Default Sorc/Wiz Lvl 16 Spell Selection Comments Requested

Looking for comments. Am I missing anything critical? Here is the plan:

L1: Nightshield, Jump, Magic Missile (Evocation-force/No save), and Shield
L2: Knock, Resist Energy, Scorching Ray (Evocation-fire/No save), and Web (Conjuration/Reflex save and strength check)
L3: Displacement, Haste, Acid Blast (Conjuration-acid/Reflex but no Spell Resistance save), and Rage
L4: Wall of Fire (Evocation-fire/Reflex but no Spell Resistance save), Stone Skin, Fireshield (Evocation-fire or cold/No save), and Dimension Door
L5: Cloud Kill (Conjuration-acid/Fortitude but no Spell Resistance save), Cone of Cold (Evocation/Reflex but no Spell Resistance save), Hold Monster (Enchantment/Will and Spell Resistance saves), and Protection from the Elements
L6: Disintegrate (Transmutation/Fortitude but no Spell Resistance save), Reconstruct (Transmutation-repair), and Greater Heroism
L7: Finger of Death (Necromancy/Fortitude and Spell Resistance saves and Deathblock item provides immunity) and Waves of Exhaustion (Necromancey/Spell Resistance but no focus save).
    L8: Polar Ray (Evocation-cold/No save).

    Looks like an acid savant

You only need one or two attack spells, the rest should be Buffs.
I'd say drop shield... Night shield is better and AC doesn't matter...
Knock is useless... Let the rogue do the locks.
Web might be good, but I've never used it
Ddoor is better for sorcs, enervation is better for wizards
Waves of Exhaustion is useless, -6, str/dex is nothing. My rogue enfeebles better

I have seen people enjoy acid rain. Try that out
    Dot's are a must ofc
If it's an earth savant, dot from the class+biting cold

If it's a wizard, Thunder+ice dot is enough
A rogue is basically, "Look at me or die."

You'll be dropping a lot of those at level 20 or so, but for now, Nightshield instead of Shield. Stoneskin is barely worth it. Waves of exhaustion is useless.

Keep Knock, though. It's great for soloing.

A proper response depends on what type of savant your character is.

    In general though:

    (i) DEFINITELY keep Web as a level 2 spell - it is extremely useful as a CC since it bypasses SR checks.

(ii) Get the two main DOTs at level 5 - Eldar's Electric Surge and Niac's Biting Cold as these are your most efficient (raid) boss spells. I'd probably drop Hold Monster and Cloud Kill for these. (You can skip Eldar's if you are an Acid savant since it is opposing element, but some people still prefer to have it anyway.)

(iii) Reconstruct can be skipped if you are a fleshy, and you can perhaps take Circle of Death. If you are a WF then probably Acid Savant is the best choice and you should get Acid Rain at level 4. You can get rid of either Fire-shield (which would be my preference as it is easy to scroll if necessary) or Firewall.

(iv) Stone-skin is worth it if you are an Acid Savant but probably not otherwise.

"Stoneskin is barely worth it." Unless you're an Earth Savant, if so this is terrible advice. In that case DEFINITELY get Acid Rain also. Amazing spell for Earthy.

Web - agreed, exceptional spell. Spam it a lot at high levels.

Might suggest switching from Earth to Water at about 18th (this will give you no penalties to all three DoT's - Niacs, Eladars and Black Dragon Bolt), then Polar Ray is your friend. You can commonly do over 2,000 points with it.

Take Blur at level 2. If you go Water, drop WoF for Ice Storm (natch)

Might be worth getting GH scrolls and Mass Suggest or Otilukes (depends on Savant).

Drop Waves and get Disco Ball.
