chests and jof

Wondering if loot is predetermined upon entering an instance. If i clear a dungeon and skip the chests until the end; then use jof, then open chests, does this boost the loot level or do i have to use jof before entering instance. ty

Loot is rolled for each character when they click on the chest, so yes you could clear the dungeon pop your jewel of fortune then go back and loot.
