Any targeting tricks?

I am wondering if there are any tricks to targeting.

Often I have a boss on target and start to stack DP. Soon after someone needs a heal which I provide - but then I need to retarget the boss in time to dot again - only there are umpteen mobs and targeting is hard.

I havent seen it - but is there a way to "go to previous target" as in the one I had just before - or a way to "save" a target and return to it? Both were options in EQ1 many years ago so they are not unheard off.

If no sucks tricks - what do you do to retarget fast when cycling through all mobs is too slow and visual targeting by mouse is obscured?

I think that the mob closest to the center of your screen will be the first one in the cycle when you use a key like tab to target mobs. So if you're facing who you're DP'ing, or you move so that the mobs are off/in the corner of your screen, that might work better.

step1: drink 5 pots of cofee
step2: super cycle through all available targets with the tab key in some kind of super slomotion like in the movies.

that or right click the boss your DPing. and use the F keys to heal party members.

Hmm, I haven't found any "tricks" either. If it's a problem, I might just leave the boss targeted and run into the group to mass heal/cure. You've probably already discovered that when a non-undead enemy is targeted, your heal/cure spells will cast centered on you.

Intelligent interface design is frowned upon by the developers, sorry.

I will try using the assist key in groups. Most likely I will know someone in group that does have the boss on target.

But pretty much I use a combo of those two methods. If I can't see the boss I was DPing, then I tab target. You will get faster, this will become more intuitive. I promise.

Try Shift+Tab. Cycles the opposite direction that a straight Tab will. The order may not go back to the mob you had targetted already, but may help.

In the midst of combat, hitting a double key process is probably more trouble than just speed-tabbing thru the mass, however.

I use F keys to target party members for heals and tab to find the target I want to DP.
