I did some numbers on todays Motu Sale and this is what I got in short:
If you bought your Turbine Points with double bonus points and wait until MotU is for 20-30% less (typical discount range) on the store you will still pay more then todays offer at the DDO-Market.
The numbers: Buying the big TP bundle with double bonus points is $ 59.99 for 8850 TP. That’s 0.68 Cent per TP. With the base edition you get the MotU adventure pack (later 2495 TP) and the epic destinies (995 TP, other sources say even 1495 TP). Lets go with the best case and a 25% discount: That’s approx. 2618 TP for the pack and the ED when they are on a sale. 2618 TP cost you at least $ 17.75 and the base pack is on sale for $ 14,99. Even in the best case (buying a even larger TP bundle and getting more discount) you won’t win much compared to today’s sale and have to wait until there is an DDO sale of MotU.
For the standard pack you get Druids, Challenges and 1000TP on top. Let’s say you can use the 1000 TP and get everything at a 75% discount then the standard edition is worth 5260 TP to you. Again at 0,68 Cent per TP that’s approx. $ 35.65 and today’s deal is $ 24.99. IF you don’t own the Eberron adventure packs that come with the standard pack then it is a even better deal to you.
This is only numbers. Whether you should buy the expansion or not because of fun vs. bugs is not part of this. I just wanted to figure out if it is a good deal to get it today, if one wants to buy MotU anyway.
