Default The Dwindling. AKA Hireling timers

    Hello

Picture the scene, I'm in rest for the restless when wouldn't you know it. I realize I'm not an artificer anymore. I TR'd into a sorcerer, there's no dog to pull my levers. D'oh!

It's fine though, just got my 500 favour reward anyway, why not use it for convenience? I break open the DDO store, pop five points and am delivered one Alphar Fairwood, the finest level 1 bard hireling in nearly most of Eberron.

A single use of play dragonforce and a pulled valve later, I'm good to go. I dismiss Alphar and through the fire and the flames I carry on and finish the quest.

I then run a couple of other - different quests, with a different group which Alphar, musically talented as he is did not participate in. Some time later. I notice in my inventory that old Alphar only has 10 minutes left. I initially bug reported it thinking that when a different party member summoned a hireling it peeled off both timers but thinking about it there wasn't enough time spent with a hireling to account for the difference in time.

Unless he's been rocking out behind my back I have no explanation other than hireling timers stopping once you leave a dungeon, but then starting again when you join a new dungeon, even if you don't summon them again.

I've had the level 4 rogue Talonia that I bought from the store disappear after only using them in one quest for ten or so minutes and it's only now I worked out it must have been the same thing. If I'd spent more than 35 points on hirelings I might be upset, but I earned 125 so far on my TR run for free, essentially, so you know, swings and roundabouts. If anyone wanted to refund my 35 TP that'd be ok though.

Is anyone else running out of hireling contracts quicker than expected? I will test this tonight and resubmit my bug report. If you're having the same problem, if you haven't already, please submit a bug report of your own.

I have no friends! Iroquios needs them pocket hjealz!

Once activated, hireling timers will continue to run whenever you are in a private instance even if not re-summoned. It's been that way for as long as I've been playing. I suppose it makes up for their not leaving in the midst of a quest if their timer expires. Well, they mostly don't leave. Mostly.

If you want to keep the timers from counting down, you have to put them in the bank.

If they stopped hireling timers from counting down in hireling folders I'd buy one.

PITA but a workaround at least. Thank you. +1
