Default *sigh* Armor kits on Females. Too much skin.

First off, I do love the idea of armor kits. Being able to get a different look on an armor is great.

But practically every armor kit that's come out so far has been really....revealing when put on a female model. I get that there's this appeal to the scantily clad women warrior....but does every armor kit have to be like that? I really like some of the gear that comes on these kits too. I just want all the skin covered up.

For an example. Here's a version of the Spider Armor 2, on light armor.

They could add a toggle ability to basically change the "skin" texture from the characters skin to match the base texture/color of the armor. I think that would probably appease everyone here.

That would be a good idea. Another simple checkbox in the options panel so it carries over to all armors.

A bad idea (just to head the marketing team off at the pass) would be to include the option in the purchased armor kits in the DDO store. That would amount to discrimination, making women pay more to show less.

Like it or not, it's an efficient way to make cash with the armor kits. Because that's what the basement dwellers want on their female characters.

But honestly, this game isn't THAT bad on the armor kits...you should see what armors look like on female dark elves in Lineage 2 lol

I'd be curious to see how many people actually purchase these armor on a female character.

And no, I suppose it could be worse. But one thing I used to always enjoy about DDO, is that armor is basically identical across genders.

See those shoulder pads? Those are a deal breaker for me.

What is also a deal breaker is skulls. Whoever the designer is has a skull fetish.

Mismatched, oversized shoulder pads or Kiss boots are deal breakers for me. They are overused and look awful.

I don't mind skin.. I do mind Barbarians not being able to just wear loincloth and cape like barbarians should!

Really the skin or no skin options are there, just checked kits for my drow female and more than not are full armor or cloth.
It's a nice change sometimes.. We just need more furry armors!

Chiming in here as another female player, though most of my toons are male. I was so excited to read about three new armor kits coming out, but having seen that all the meshes include the car bumper shoulders, I am very disappointed. I don't quite understand why all the newer meshes have these...is it a plot by Lolth to reduce anything resembling visibility during combat for Eberron's warriors? The old stock armor meshes were fine, shoulder-wise. Sure, we can buy the meshless version of the kit, but then we're running around in a flight suit.

That said, on to the thread topic--my other female friends that play and I are constantly giggling at the skankariffic kits for female toons because they are so over the top. I agree with many of the other posters in this thread--I want skanky revealing armor for my male toons! Love the blue Bull look on the purple-haired fellow posted earlier, but that's so very mild, I mean we'd run out of spaces to tuck silvers into after only a short time compared to the massive leg/chest/belly/back/things-your-mom-would-disapprove-of showing female armor kits. It's not fair. Either give us the option to put a catsuit on under our female armors, or give us some REALLY skeezy male stripper costumes too, or both would be extra yay.

And now, commenting as a virtual wallet...I purchase a LOT of armor kits because yes, half of why I play this game is for dress-up, and I like my toons to look the way I want them to look, and you know what? NONE of the armor kits I ever buy are the newer ones. Devs, take a hard look at this, please. Something changed, and it was not a good change. I want to spend more money on armor kits (because let's face it, some of the needful gear is just plain fugly), but I will not buy car bumper shoulders, and I will not dress up my Silver Flame cleric as a streetwalker. More choices, please!!

Oh yes that would be wonderful but I think that the Drow (Spider) Kits should be Racy, More Spidery... and pretty much like what the Priestess/Warriors are in, they made it for the enemies why can't we look that fantastic too!!!! without the Giant Shoulder pads.

Edit: I request a Priestess Kit so that my smexeh Drow Air Savant can look just as fantastic as the Priestesses!!!! I actually look for the most racy ones for my drow... the most evil and fully covered for my Pally (Beast Purple or Teal 2 Fully geared and mean looking with all the skulls Love it!!!) AND the prettiest one for my Elf Favored Soul she is in the Blue Bull one without all the additions.... :P

I'd sign for a 'show skin' option, client side.

No call to be calling people who don't mind seeing a little skin basement dwellers though.

I live in an apartment, high above the ground. I'm also a grown adult.

    Thank you.

That being said, while I do like skimpy armor, I wouldn't buy that due to a) belt doesn't look like it's sized correctly and b) those shoulder tumor things really bug me.

I think there is some room for armor kits like that (both for boys and girls) but there should be plenty of options for armor that actually looks functional as well as stylish.

I've no doubt the sexy armor sells. I've bought some myself as has my wife, but I don't dress all my female characters like that, just the ones who I think would want to be showing off like that.

I like the skin no skin options, but I'd say find a way to actually mark them as revealing armor or the like.
Those looking for that can find them faster and the team can be deliberate about how much of that they have in the game. DDO has mostly been classy on the scant clothing front. Happy to have a little in the game, but too much and were kind of slumming.

Love the MASSIVE Shoulder Guard on LIGHT Armour!

Actually not really getting your skin issue though with this pic - Not showing anything you can't see in Olympic Beach Volleyball!

I would love to see some Armour Kits btw that actually look like Armour when put on Light Armour - Glad to see some of the new random armours in game actually looking like Hvy Armour now too.

Again though - My problem with this armour is that ridiculous Shoulder Guard rather than the skin being shown.

Female anatomy is different and requires different armor to be effective.

I've no idea what the heck they were thinking with those giant shoulder pads in the new armours.

Really ugly and looks totally non-functional.

Ever seen WoW? I heard it's pretty popular. It also has humongous shoulder guards.

I wonder how many people hate the shoulder tumors... seems everyone I've ever met does...

Funny how it's always just one shoulder tumor. That's apparently all you need.

Anyways, agreed. I'd never buy a kit with shoulder tumors. I hate them.

Heh, funny that it's the shoulder pads that are getting more attention. I kind of like them. (Though maybe they could be a little smaller on the one side)

    Women Fighters in Reasonable Armor

I wouldn't mind some bulky yet feminine armor for my female toons (guy speaking). I can understand robes and outfits being revealing; after all they should be free flowing for fluid movement. The heavy armor kit looks are pretty standard fantasy fare sadly. Not everyone seems to mind though. "Skanky magic hooch" captures the way some people would want to look in a fantasy setting, I guess.
