Add in some additional styles without excess skin, get both the 18-year-old money and even more money from people who aren't buying kits now. Even more hamster food!

Not sure if you intended it, but you kind of did it again. It's not just 18-year-olds who pay to see skin. You think those broke little kids could support the multi-billion dollar adult film industry, adult clubs, most fantasy artwork, and Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue?

I think there should be armor options that show a LOT more skin. For both sexes. As well as armor options that cover every inch of skin from head to two.

There should be a full range of clothing options from lascivious vixen/himbo to regal attire. From barely clothed barbarian to fully armored knight. And I bet a lot of people would probably buy both.

They were paralleling the person they quoted who was referring to 18 year olds.

LOL. I was just quoting the post above me. Whoever you feel the super sexy female armor is intended for, more power to ya! It's really surprising how touchy people are about their female toons and why they play/dress them. Do what you want, be happy, enjoy it!

I don't mind the sexy armor at all. I just don't want to buy it.

I just want more options, since we're clearly not going to be getting a custom appearance slot from the hustl...err, powers that be.

Heck, make a double cost 'strip appearance off existing armor' widget in the store; lots of random and low level named armors have some pretty sweet skins.

I'd take that as well! I've found some really nice elven chains and scale mails that I use for crafted armors. Haven't seen anything as attractive in the store yet.

I would pay triple for some of the more rare elven chains and other armors I have stumbled across.

Drow Hunter's Armor or Insulated Armor? Yes please!

Not to mention, a similar item for weapon skins would be very well received ...

This, absolutely. I just want choice, not having to play the "does this have more cleavage / skin than I am comfortable with" lottery. I really couldn't care less what other people wear.

This would be a brilliant idea. I love many of the dragonscales, for example, the Eberron ones, even though they aren't necessarily optimal.

I really do wish we could have an 'Outfit' tab ala LOTRO. Even if the class of armor was restricted, maybe you could keep armor effects from your past life when you TR!

I'm not keen on the boy short look for the Spider outfit, although to each his own. The only reason I'm really kind of disappointed is that if I were looking for Drow themed armor I would have been looking for more like this...

Absolutely, but more armor skin that don't look like chainmail bikini means more money from everyone that aren't 18 yo males with female avatars...

..and please, enough with the enormous shoulder pad(s) already. They look ridiculous.

I have a bigger issue with armored shoulder pads on outfits/robes then naked midriff sections myslef.

A quick study of history would prove you wrong. I agree with the huge shoulder pad thing though they are just ugly.

I'm a woman, and I love the whole chainmail bikini look. ^_^ Maybe just because I'm a fan of classic fantasy and Frazetta style where both men and women wore little - I still wanna see topless DDO men with furry loin cloths and huge pectoral muscles running around!
Mind you I do agree that not every armor kit has to be skimpy on the girls, but I do like them for some of my characters. I have a couple barbarians who would be way too happy if they could get furry loin cloths and bra tops, and too many FR based drow who like to dress skimpy.

Why the armor works? Well, back in good old AD&D it was joked about how the armor like that 'was' magical. I mean, why would metal armor protect you from fire? It's magic! Why would Alias's cleavage showing chainmail top protect her? It was magic! This is fantasy after all. ^_^ (Alias was from the FR Azure Bonds series BTW.)

Some women do hate this sort of thing, and view it as objectifying, and some women (like myself) LOVE this sort of thing and love it as much as the scrawny geek guy loves playing the 6'5 muscular, kick-ass barbarian. It's a way to pretend to be something we're not and have fun. BUT, there are some men who are morons and don't realize that this is 'fantasy' and objectify women to believe that they should all look like ridiculous models in chainmail bikinis. But to be fair those are the same morons who think that if a girl isn't a DD cup, X-rated movie model that she's not a good enough woman for him. (Haven't had to deal with idiots like that since my teen years and back in the old D&D playing days when girl gamers were like unicorns, very rare and only virgins saw them. >.> )

Anyhoo, the point I'm getting at is that some guys like to play huge, gorgeous, muscular, kick-ass characters - and in the same vein some women like to play chainmail bikinis. Same thing, the only difference is that we tend not to judge people who don't like to play that type of character.

(BTW, not all of my characters are like that, but I do play a lot of Eilistraeean FR drow who are said to dress very skimpy, or even nude... and I have fun with that. ^_^ One of my drow characters only adventures in boots, a backpack, baldric, very magical bracers/protections and her long hair in reverence of her nude goddess Eilistraee.)

It is funny that no one in this thread has objected to the existing armors, people are just asking for more choice. Yet some keep arguing against removing the bikini armors... Which no one asked for.

A lot of assumptions about what is being requested.

The only requests in the thread are for less silly shoulder guards and more kits that aren't halters and garter belts. Having more choices does not impact those who love showing their belly button. There are plenty of choices for you, and the rest of us just want pretty things too.

I have to admit I was programmed by those Frazetta and Boris Vallejo paperback covers (conan, john carter, etc) and calendars, so I don't see why people object to the skimpy armor kits. I do get why people want more stylish and martial looking kits. So I'm a proponent of both.

But the prevalence of the asymmetric armor styles (shoulder pads, boots, gloves) are just mind boggling. What spawned that sartorial afterbirth?

I do like the look of the elven chain.

I also crafted some nice effects onto my monk's starter rags so he could run around looking like a vagabond for the first few levels.

The nightingale armor of skyrim is a bit over rated, also wouldn't be found anywhere on ddo b/c I highly doubt Bethseda would agree to let ddo use one of it's art works.
