Update: Made a Monster Manual Spider Hunting guide in guide section of forums for those hunting spiders. It will have a more complete list of spiders as players find them. http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=387590


Was Waiting till I found every spider I could think of to post this. The Demonweb glass spider rare eluded me for a long time, finally got it. 68 is all I can find. Please let me know if you know of any others. Will list all I found and where I found them if I can remember the quest at the bottom.

3500 spiders killed and 60 spider types found appears to be all you need to unlock the Companion.

The fastest way to get spider kills is to do Arachnophobia. 31 spiders killed per completion, completion takes under a minute. Second fastest in Vale Of Twilight Rare spiders and the spiders near the rare about 40 kills a run but a little longer than arachnophobia and no guarantee of the rare.

The Companion is a Forest Spiderling a brown version of the Spider included with Xpack preorders.

Jukree - Counted as Fiend SPider queen instead of unique spider

Note: All Quori Spiders like those found in I dream of Jeets, VON 2, and Dreaming Dark do not count as spiders.

There may be some location mistakes, I'm going by memory, please post any corrections you see. And if you know a definite location of a spider please list it. Also if you know of any spiders I missed let me know.

Yea I had just unlocked the spider expertise, seemingly for no reason too after getting only 2 account deeds.

Really bugged and makes no sense.

It says 5 account deeds and 5 total deads. Which in itself makes no sense, because obviously youd have 5 total deeds if you had 5 accounts deeds. Yet it unlocks before that, at some seemindly unrelated/arbitrary point.

Nice writup of ur finding too. I have 62. Think i have several not from ur list, ill check... Lets see if we can find all 80 it says there are. Gota catch em all , pokemanual!

personally I appear to have two entries for fiendish spider... odd... did make a lil list with the 11 you appear to be missing, if you want it.

Bloated flame eater (you have to do the spinners prison on heroic normal for this one, it does not spawn on epic from what I have seen)
clearfang: Cult of the six: The fane of the six

Glass twilight spider: Vale of twilight
Hyaline matriarch: tomb of the forbidden
Pyrachnid: ring of fire

nope, the spider companion is the second tier of the mastery rewards for spiders. Where human, rat, sahuagin, and skeleton only have 1 tier (which is the numerical HP values of creatures related to their type).

I assume that this mechanic is in place to give you the benefit of seeing creature hp on all your characters without having to kill however many thousands of them for each character.

If this was the case, Forgeborn and myself would have had all our masteries without having to kill for the slayer part, only the hunter.. as we have majority of all the types for said hunter.. it required us to get 4 of each character deed and account before it unlocked the mastery.. :x

Tried... no luck.. :c currently only 82 total Spiders, untill they fix the bugged ones, once they do that, there should be 86 total
