    Question Are Slayer Arrows Gimp?

I challenged my necromancer friend today to a duel. We were fighting and then he said after I killed him numerous times: that using slayer arrows are gimpish. Is this true? Is using slayer arrows in PVP fine or regarded as gimpish? I know to certain people yeah, but I mean generally. Like no hold spells in brawling arena, is a universal one. But I think its fine because all the classes pick on rangers at low levels with relative ease but when the ranger gets slayer arrows, its like the hypocrisy button is turned on with full volume...

P.S. What is the view then on vorpal as well?

No. I have faught players who survived a full manyshot of slayer arrows. He is just whining because slayer arrows are the PVP wizards cryptonite.

No its just sour grapes on yours friends behalf.

Make a Lightning Strike Bow and he can complain doubly then !

Anyone decent in PVP will spot when you are using manyshot and run away for 20 seconds then will come looking for you. If you roll a 20 and he has less than 500 hit points its all over

Their are some spells that can take you down almost immediately and a bardic effect that can immobilise you. You dont see Bards and Casters not using these abilities do you ?

Go Fury of the Wild and hit adrenalines during the manyshot. Laugh like an evil genius while doing so.

    PVP means nothing in DDO.

Slayer arrows are not gimp, they're a duct tape fix til the devs can actually get ranged combat to work.

Your friend (Like many others who get irritated over PVP) is just mad over silly things.

PvP clearly means something in DDO as there are people who do it and enjoy it. I don't participate but it doesn't mean that I'm going to infringe a posters rights by telling him not to post about what he enjoys in DDO.

That said, this thread is more appropriate in the PvP section.

Slaying Arrow damage can be blocked by shield blocking, not confirming the critical or not receiving damage from the arrow, I'd not worry about people who decide after you own them that what you're doing isn't fair though. Though, if your friends with someone and are winning consistently then it might be worthwhile to intentionally handicap yourself to see if you can still beat them.

I think your friend is simply suffering from something called butthurt.

To further increase the lulz you can usually reply to the butthurt person with a "U MAD BRO?".

Or link them to this picture

Butthurt is very common among PVPers, it usually occurs when they feel like their e-peen is endangered. They will usually react by telling you that you either cheated, that they weren't ready, that you can't use "x" skill or tactics or, in this case, that your "slayer arrows are gimpish".

Do not be fooled by this, they are only trying to get you to stop using everything that is utterly destroying them in PVP until they can kill you once you've been reduced to punching them because everything else you were doing was "gimpish". They will then proceed to let the world know how awesome they are in general chat so that everyone can see it and keep stroking their e-peen for about half an hour. They will also deny having ever died.

Just kill them and keep the butthurt flowing, it's so much more fun that way.

The only problem with slayers is they only proc when you roll a 20... they work pretty well on a boss using multishot, but dont give steady dps when manyshot is off simply because you never know when theyre gonna proc... better off using force burst when not in manyshot mode......

The only time that it's a better idea to use something other than Slaying for damage is when you are fighting enemies with low enough HP that most or all of your slaying damage is being wasted. And even then, you're better off with Acid Imbue than Force Burst.

Try using slayer arrows with an epic earth bow with double rainbow on - your opponent might like that even more.
He left the name, at which the world grew pale.

Of course it is gimp. Using any of the tools that your class is granted, that allows you to incapacitate or instantly kill anyone in PvP (particularly casters), is gimp.

At least that is what I am told whenever I use my monks Stunning Fist, Touch of Death, or Grand Master of Flowers enhancements in the brawling pit.

I also get great pleasure from killing Rangers/Artificers that like to run in circles shooting me, telling me my melee toon is subpar (like everyone doesn’t know that ranged attacks are op in PvP in general). If my gimp melee finds catching the gimp bow user too challenging, I simply log in my caster, because he is a righteous and rightful dominator in PvP.

Anything you can do to get the upper hand is gimp. You are supposed to let them kill you…then you are not gimp….oh wait…

Good old days of casters disciplining the tavern drunks are over! Now just too many people are running with unsuppressed Pale Lavender Ioun Stones, and pwning casters on a regular basis. My barbarian is killing level 20s since it's only level 5. If your victim said you that using slayer arrows is gimp, it means s/he is expressing his/her frustration nothing else. When my melees trip a caster they say the same thing. However, I don't care too much since PvP in DDO is pointless IMHO.
