Title says it all, I'm a level 18 air/cold sorc atm and wondering if a 18/2 splash adds anything to the class.

Not really, sorcs should stay pure.
Beware the Sleepeater
The only one with any real synergy at all would be 2 Paladin for a large boost to your saves, but there are many more advantages to staying pure. The capstone, +2 caster levels, more SP, and access to more than one ninth level spell being the biggest ones.
16 sorcerer/1 barbarian/1 rogue can be good for leveling if you're twinked to the teeth, having trap skills and fast movement (listed at 16 because it's meant to TR the second you hit 20). At cap, capstone + 2 level 9 spells is useful enough to trounce most splashes.
They're far from bad, though, because 18 levels of sorc still gives you mad damage with your spells, so, if you're going for a more survivable straight-dps build, you should be just fine.
* Monk gets evasion, but it's very hard to get a decent reflex save (different from a wizard that can get 40+ just with insightful reflexes);
* Paladin gets very good saves, so it's going to be more survivable.

1 level of Barbarian for 10% speed increase and enhancements for 1st tier Barbarian Toughness and of course Sprint Boost.
It is more popular for levelling/TR's, but still Viable, lose out on about 8% damage for empowerable spells from loss of Sorc capstone and one level 9 spell.
