Access Violation once more

Hey,

I just reinstalled my OS(no particular reason, I do this a few times each year).
I installed Windows xp, service pack 1, service pack 3, chipset drivers, graphic drivers, winrar antivir, drivers and utilities for my wireless card, chrome and .net 1.1 + hotfix for 1.1.
Then when i tried to run the installer for ddo(I had the downloaded files stored, from a few days ago, since I just restarted playing) I got the error-msg
Runtime Error(at 39:363)

Access Violation at address 00418107. Read of address 000000C0

I've tried reinstalling the .net+hotfix, to no avail and pando was never installed, so what I read about this bug didnt help me...
Mainboard ASRock N68S
Graphic Ati Radeon HD 3450(MSI)
2GB RAM
The wireless card is a tp-link WN751ND(not really important, but the only change in HW, since I reinstalled my OS)

Does anyone have a clue, what could be causing this?
Any help would be appreciated!

I could be wrong, but it almost sounds like a disk error to me. Better do a backup.

Try uninstalling the Pando Media Booster before you install DDO. That sometimes works. Something is decidedly holding a file open and PMB is a likely culprit.

Did you uninstall DX, and then reinstall it, or try to patch it? (uninstall and then reinstall, dont patch to fix this) Does your DXDiag report any problems found? I ask, because DX is the most common source of this problem.

Could also be a good old fashioned file privilege issue. Not as easy to fix in XP. You are running on an administrator account, right?

Ok, first of all thanks
The Media Booster isn't installed, since I did the download under my previous os and can't start the installation.
Disc issue is allways a possibility ofc, but I think the disc is ok, I have a backup of all important files though, thanks for teh input =).
I'll try the dx and then report back

Ok DxDiag doesn't throw any errors...
I am logged in as the administrator.

Ok.
Problem solved.
I redownloaded both the "normal" and the high res client and the high res one worked just fine(normal still didn't).
According to virus and malware scanners, my system is clean, so no clue what the actual problem was...
