    Talking Now this is hilarious!!!

First time this happened, I really didn't figure it out, but this time it happened I realized it actually works this way. I have *a company* do maintainance and optimization twice a month on my machine. It includes disk and registry cleaning and optimization, connection optimization, virus and malware cleaning and protection and system backup. Each time they do this, I have to repair this game. It's the only thing on my machine that is damaged. I thought that it was my machine that was the problem with the game. This proved to me where the problem is and what the problems are.

I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that most, if not all, games are broken to some extent.
One should not complain about them if one cannot fix them.
I, for one, should take this to heart as I embark upon another journey through this game.

So you have an unknown, possibly untrusted and un-knowledgeable company "fix" your computer twice a month and they break DDO each time.

And DDO is the problem how?

Do you even know what's broken? Or if a file is deleted accidentally each time?
Have you tried logging the changes to see what's done?
Have you tried making a SFV file to compare working and non working copies of your DDO?

    tl;dr
You say DDO is the problem, with no proof to back up your claims

Just sounds like "a company" has a scrubber program that looks for binary sequences rather than just files/registries and corrupts data.

*the company* is Comcast (The nation's #1 internet, phone and TV company!) I'd trust them long before a certain other company.

Wow. Yeah. What others have said.

The *products* that Comcast are using are likely nothing more than some script kiddie hack job that was pushed off on executives when they came to a round table meeting demanding that there was a customer need for this *product*. I guarantee it.

I disagree. I have Comcast By the way.

I believe your assumption is derived from a lack of understanding of the systems involved - this is not your fault at all, if anything it is the fault of the people who maintain your system to not themselves be aware of the problem and take responsibility and notify you clearly of their responsibility.

Large companies like Comcast, etc., tend to contract these services out or purchase third party tools. They tend to use "broad brush" services that attempt to service everyone in a generic manner. In addition, their first tier of customer support is usually not very knowledgeable.

Have you mentioned this problem to your Comcast Service? They may already be prepared to use different methods or isolate affected software, either way its them that's causing the problem.

If you were to purchase an anti-virus software and run it and it found your Miceosoft Office files to be a virus and removed them, would you look to Microsoft or to the company your puchased the anti-virus software from for responsibility?

Perhaps you are under the impression that a software development firm can intentionally provide software that might be compromised by such third party services - let me assure you that not only is that not likely, its nearly impossible. Software companies also use third party tools to develop their software, so unless the manufacturer of that third party tool somehow WANTED to make their work appear like a virus and even if they COULD make it so, any "scrubbers or cleaners" with any capability would be able to detect that it was in fact not a problem and except it from their cleaning.

And by no means do I mean to single out Comcast. I've heard all sorts of stories from friends with various other Cable/Phone providers.

The goal of these big companies appears to be first and foremost to take as much of your money as possible. It is my opinion that quality of service is distinctly secondary and only provided as needed to attain the first goal.

My own personal opinion is that a business should make a reasonable, not userious profit, provide a high quality of service, and provide a benefit to the community. Many states now have new categories of businesses that do just that. Unfortunately, most of these big companies seem to be only about CEO and Directors' salaries, buying governments and using up employees as fast as they can paying them as little as possible. That cycle simply will not last.

    Further to this issue.

You were vague about who was "cleaning" your computer for you. Now you state it's your ISP which is comcast and that's fine.

But how do you know they have a clue as to what they're doing? It's a minimum wage tech running a program that was made by someone unknown.

Your vague references and avoidance of the real issue here proves nothing other than you're trying to sound cool like you're one of the big kids. Seriously go get a copy of quicksfv, make an SFV file of your entire DDO directory AND your My Documents/DDO folder right after you "fix" DDO. Then after they break it again run the SFV check, and tell us what's been removed and if you still trust your ISP to not be deleting necessary files any more.

Im not saying ddo is a flawless example of programming by any stretch, but when you sign a contract that is offered to everyone to blanket fix issues in a custom environment you get conflicts. Its kinda like ddo and all the bugs they create with blanket fixes. I blame the 'service' you are paying for.

FYI all isps offer you reasons to increase the size of your monthy bill. If your pc needs to have all those tasks performed on it, cancel your service, get a real antivirus, a decent free registry cleaner, learn how to clean out temp data and caches, and how to use scandisk and defrag. You can then set your pc up to do all those things automatically. If you still experience issues doing it yourself the right way there are further steps to troubleshoot those problems at that time.

OMG, I can't breath. That's some funny stuff right there. Not that I trust Turbine but that anyone would trust Comcast. Please tell what they charge for this bi-monthly "service"?

What's with the random rainbow coloring? Just curious as it doesn't help me read it, it actually distracts me.

actually they are third in phones, but you don't seem to like to do any research, so it's pointless to point this out.

I also have Comcast, but have never heard of this service. Not to say it doesn't exist, but have never used it.

I have about a 50-50 troubleshooting record with Comcast. Approximately 50% of the time I call them with a problem, I have to explain their equipment to them and what the problem is.

I wouldn't let them near my computer.

Edit: I looked up the service, and I would ask them about the issue. Not immediately blame Turbine for any issues without clarification.
