How is this calculated?
I asked around the game last night and everyone I talked to seemed to think that it was calculated the same as player AC, an assumption that is completely logical. However it cannot be true, or if it is then it is currently bugged.
My level 11 wolf, Angel, has a +9 Dex bonus. I put him in armor with a+10 Armor Bonus and a Max Dex of 11. Now, if pet AC were the same as player AC, his total armor class would be 10+9+10 = 29. His actual AC with this gear on? 38. And since one cannot mouseover the pet's character sheet for a breakdown, I have no idea where this extra 9 is coming from.
I strip him naked and his AC is 28. This does make sense in the above context as the only difference should be the 10 from the armor bonus. So, subracting the 9 Dex Bonus from 28 = 19. Could they have a base of 19 instead of 10?
Further testing revealed something even stranger though:
This time I equipped Angel with a +8 Armor Bonus with a Max Dex of 8. This armor has the suffix Stability. So, going by the above assumption of a 19 base his armor class in this set should be 19+8+8+2 = 37 right?
Wrong. It's 38. Again.
So, by the game's logic 10+9 = 8+8+2. Now, while I am no mathematical genius, I am fairly certain that nineteen never ever equals eighteen.
So, what gives?
