Default Theories about the upcoming updates

The bridge beyond the purple knights challenge (right next to the tavern) used to be walkable. There's a road past it, that had an invisible wall...

Possibly a road somewhere? In one of the interviews I saw and read, Fernando mentioned that they wanted to make the Forgotten Realms explorers and quests more realistic, in the sense that you see where you are going, (the way you can see eveningstar from the forest) as opposed to Eberron, where you teleport everywhere and somehow you're in the Desert (which in the Xen'drik continent map, is very far from Stormreach) Sure, it's an airship, but still, maybe get a nice cinematic of travel or something.

Seeing that road excited me. If you look at the world map while in Eveningstar, you can see mountains and other zones. Look at the character selection screen when you load in to Forgotten realms! To be honest, I'd love a more open world feel to DDO. Keep the outdoor areas instanced, as is DDO's trademark (and a great feature for sure). But be able to travel by foot or mount; with fast travel options for those that are lazy.

I really hope they go in this direction with future updates to DDO FR. I predict that eventually DDO will be split in two: Eberron and Faeurn. Perhaps players will get to pick if they start in Faerun or Eberron, thus locking the other realm, which could be unlockable via purchase or really high favor. I also would like to see gnomes and tieflings (tieflings having the 4th ed look, but the 3.5 idea).

    And you guys, any theories?

Yeah I think it would be neat to take a character from lvl 1 to cap in the Forgotten Realms. Or maybe just start there, and around lvl16 have a quest chain that could lead to Eberron. Their side of the lead up to the expansion with Drow starting to raid Eveningstar.

Only problem I see is keeping both worlds populated. Whichever one has the best loot is going to have more players.

I will say I really like the idea of either moving slow through a vast wilderness area or faster travel option though.

My preference is keeping making new FR quests. Personally, I always enjoyed the above-ground portions of Faerun more than dreary, monotone underdark, and I hope they expand the geography too.

I think they should keep making King's Forest better and better. I think King's Forest by far is the best of the new play maps. The forest is beautiful and they put in many touches that make it feel like a real forest. I would like to esee the overall chance for rares to increase substantially and keep adding more expensive items for Commendations to keep people playing KF. They could either increase the chance for each rare, or keep that the same, and just add new rare encounters with the same chance for each rare. I've found the stretches too long between rares. If I could reliably keep hitting rares every 10 min or so, it would be awesome and I could run around KF having fun forever.

Regarding quests, I think they should work backwards, making 17-18 level quests first, 15-16 quests, next, etc., or something along those lines, to bridge the gap from level 1 to level 25 in FR. I think they should not segregate the worlds because DDO already as a lot of quests and only a fair number of players. If anything, they should keep pushing down the level requirements for flagging into FR so the worlds are more connected. I also think they should keep throwing bones to the f2p (e.g., make new f2p FR quests or eventually open some of the current FR pay quests for f2p); I don't think they should do this very quickly though. The reason to support f2p is that having more players has a lot of value to all, including those that p2p. Obviously, this has to be done in a way that is fair to p2p too (e.g., only very slowly open some content, like after a year). My sense is the community is a little more divided than ever with the new expansion and sometimes I worry the left behind will tire of playing DDOand we'll all be worse off.

personally the content i would like to see is mainly 16-25 this will bridge the cap for xp and having to farm over and over. See this is the great part about Forgotten Realms. there is so much untouched content that can happen. kings forest demonweb and underdark. Even the drow city can all be expanded to lets us go farther in exploring it.

I also hope they dont forget about ebberon either. There is a lot of stories unfinished. Im hoping we will see at least 2 packs per update one for ebberon one for forgotten Realms. mean lots of content for all players and everyone is happy. Eventually forgotten will get f2p quests to keep the f2p interested. This is how you enjoy the game. give them a taste of the good stuff. Then some will spend money on the game as well.

im pretty sure the devs have already stated that they have no desire or intention of revisiting eberron.

anyways, i dont care about new content right now. i want this content FIXED.

    Default My predictions:

    1. No epic handwraps.

    2. Many of the bugs from this update will be fixed, but there will be at least 2-3 new ones that break the game for some builds which will then remain unfixed for 6-12 months.

    3. New raid will not work properly.

    4. Epic xp will be "adjusted" across the board to 25% of what it is currently.

    5. Heroic xp will be "adjusted" to 75% of what it is currently.

    5. New raid boss special attack: Disintegrates Mnemonic pots right out of your backpack. This will work from day one regardless of how the rest of the raid functions.

    6. There will be a bug which enables one build or another to be OP, like when Manyshot had no timer, and it will be fixed within 2 hours of Turbine noticing it.

    7. New to the DDO store: +4 tomes, epic XP tomes of learning, +50% xp pots.

Either my sarcasm detector is off, or you're being serious... They've mentioned Eberron will keep getting updates and such... Eberron is DDO's main storyline... Forgotten Realms is the other hero in the crossover comic. Incredibly relevant, but still a side storyline. But hopefully, still getting developed and updated. At least focus on FR for the next 2 years, while still updating Eberron.

It'll get fixed, then the next update will come with bugs, and the story repeats... I prefer content over bug fixing... As long as the bugs don't impede my gameplay, I'm happy. But I can understand the concerns of others, as I also have experienced some of the bugs mentioned over and over again on the forums.

I'd like them to keep expanding Eberron, as there is definately some content there that needs either re-visiting or finishing (Shavarath and the storyline with The Truthful One being the obvious examples here).

that said I hope they put more focus into the Realms as frankly it is a world much better suited to high level play. Eberron was written as a world mainly for lvl 1-20 play and it shows. the big bad guys from Eberron like Lord of Blades and the Lords of Dust are in the pen & paper version levels 15-25 (I know, I have the issues of Dragon & Dungeon magazines they were statted up in). There are single characters in the Realms that could take on and beat (in some cases with ease) entire nations of Eberron.

Looking at where Eveningstar is, it is ringed with high level/epic adventure sites.

To the west is the Zhentarim fortress of Darkhold and beyond that the Sword Coast where in Warlock's Keep lurks Larloch the Ultra-Lich (the guy has so many ioun stones they orbit his head like a floating crown).

To the north-east is the Well of Dragons, primary stronghold of the Cult of Dragons, a place where dragons go to die and which is guarded by a legion of undead dragon worshipping fanatics and the Dracoliches they revere.

To the north is the Empire of Netheril and the flying city that is its capital Shade Enclave, home to hundreds of shadow magic using archmages, ruled over by the 12 Princes of Shade and their father the Most High Telamont Tanthul.

To the west is the former nation of Sembia, now ruled by Netheril and overseen by the flying city of Sakkors, it too home to many high level Shadovar and their minion. Further beyond that is Thay, ruled over by the lich tyrant Szass Tam and his servants the Red Wizards.

And south is not only Cormyr's capital Suzail, but the city of Westgate, ruled by a coven of vampires led by a clone of the archmage Manshoon.

The Realms is a far better setting for epic level play than Eberron will ever be, and I hope as the game continues to expand that its upper level focus remains in the Realms.

That is a matter of opinion.

Eberron should still have SOME interesting things for us to do - We've only touched the Continent of Xen'drik (spelling?). There is the nation of the Inspired (no doubt ruled by the Dreaming Drark), the Nation of Argonnessen... Plenty!

I would like to see the epic destiny bugs fixed, and a druid one incorporated.

The random effect BS removed from eberron challenges, and given static options like the cannith challenges.

A friend and i were just talking today about what a more open world might be like. I definitely enjoy instanced quests more that public situations, but it would be fun to travel overland and encounter other players. I used to play FFXI a lot and it was fun to come across someone in trouble and help them out. There were times it was a miserable PiTA too, but it would be nice ro have the option.

    (1) It will turn out that Eveningstar just happens to be *really close* to Icewind Dale.

    (2) The explorer area will be full of messages left by Drizz't do'Urden talking about how his mommy never loved him.

    (3) The only raid loot will be a magic scimitar with no useful properties except +15 to Sulking or +15 to Brooding skill, determined randomly.

    (4) The raid will be an escort mission to protect Cattie Brae and lead her out of the underworld so Drizz't can remain angsty around her.

    (5) Drizz't voiceovers will be acted by Robert Pattinson, since Drizz't do'Urden and Edward Cullen are actually the same character anyway.
