Pretty much it. That, and I've seen some pretty bad pugs, which disincentivizes me from running with a pug. I'm certain I'm not the only one who feels this way. As one guildie put it, "Pugs are like cookies. You only have them once in a while and only if they are good."

Wit the frequency of the "decline of PUGs" threads, they should be good and well dead by now.

    They're not.

The 16 level range is pretty barren now. Hardly a group I would even think twice about joining during the entire past week of playing.

High level pugs are much more plentiful.

how can the level 16 range be dead? there are leveling stones! everyone should have a level 16 character!

seriously tho, that was about the worst idea ive ever seen implemented by turbine. it sure convinced me to stop pugging for that level range.

its a death of 1000 cuts. sad part its self inflicted wounds.

I disagree with the op's choice of words, severe is much to strong. perhaps gradual downwards trend.

Everything is so easy that it can be soloed or shortmaned, no reason to waste time pugging, especially with all the stoners running around.

Kinda sad for a group oriented game, don't you think

this is exactly why i dont pug anymore. i can shortman anything i want to run without the LIABILITY of a pug, including epic raids.

im copying this from someone else but i thought it was clever - ddo is a massively singleplayer online game.

Or maybe people are coming out of their shells, making contacts, linking up to run quests. I just did, christ, 6 or 7 hours of epics on Ziggystar, rather than watching the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games.

    It's a concern.

I'm thinking about taking Alesthane out an' about for PUGging top endish content (16-20), and then maybe Eichenauer for high-mid content (12-16), And Zaathras and Formerprez for everything else on a rotating basis on, oh, say Tuesday and Wednesday.

That said, 11-12 is a dead zone. I can't count the number of times I've signed on and seen tons of "7-10" grouns and then tons of "12-15" groups. Man, I can't wait until I grind out the last few ranks on Natalia...

That said, I'm an Olympic junkie, so I'll be scarce for the next sixteen.
    Alesthane - Chorwynt - Glyndwyr - Hasta - Azzad - Chereneko - Threesee - Ziggystar - Pfipher - Zaathras - MajorisUrsa - Eichenauer - Cherneko - Kwayzaar - Gweirwyn - RedArray - Arbengwr - Aryett - Bhokz - Escobhaul - Formerprez - Maarkenward - MacDoel - MacIntyre - Ritterstan = Khyber

XP stones have made me very apprehensive about PUGging with 16-19s.

Seeing a good number of people hit LFMs, type 'shr plz' for a non-sharable quest, then sit in the harbor for an hour. I don't mind helping someone find a quest, but when they ignore directions, say nothing but 'share quest' and your LFM said 'already started, know the way' it gets a little old.

Outside that range PUGs are fine.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.
