    Default ~Request~ Druid solo build

    Hello everyone,

Sorry if i posted in wrong area, I am looking to start a Druid but am going to be primarily soloing it when friends aren't on.

I would like it to be able to handle traps, so I was thinking 18 Druid/2 rogue, now I don't know enough about Druid to know which feats or race, so was curious if anyone already had a build?

Read somewhere that a guy threw in monk for the evasion/heals and went 1 rogue for trap skills, would that be good? Sounds fun.

Sorry I'm sure you guys are getting a lot of Druid posts, and thank you in advance for any help.

If you want to handle traps, you have to splash rogue or artificer. I've seen a couple of people splash arti so they can use runearms in their off-hand, but runearm damage scales with level so it will be pitiful in the hands of a splashed character. Moreover runearms violate the druidic oath, and hence aren't worth using even if they did offer decent damage.

So splashing rogue is certainly your best option if you want to be a trapsmith. Since you don't receive 9th level druid spells until 17th level, and can only take 20 class levels total, you want to make sure you don't splash more than three levels. That means you can safely take 1-3 rogue levels. The first uncaps most skills in the game, including search/disable/locks/UMD, and gives you a massive skill-point boost because you receive 4x normal skill points at first level. The second gives you evasion, which is nice to have even for a low-DEX low-will-save character like a druid. The third gives you an extra sneak attack die.

The thing is, though, the area about which most people complain for their druid builds is feats -- there just aren't enough of them. To get bonus feats, you need to splash fighter or monk. A two-level fighter splash gives you heavy armor, all martial weapons, and some decent combat enhancements including a +1 bonus to trip/takedown. A two-level monk splash gives you evasion (does not stack with rogue evasion). Those benefits are strong enough that you see a fair number of druid characters who splash 2 fighter or 2 monk. Since trapskills are a must for you, you could consider 2 monk 1 rogue, 2 fighter 1 rogue, or 1 fighter 2 rogue on your character.

Do keep in mind, though, that compared to a pure druid, you'll have fewer spell points and a lower caster level. I don't personally think this is a big deal at this point, but it is important to consider nevertheless. Good luck!

    Hello,
I soloed on my Druid fine. I ran traps with a good reflex save and self healed if i got in trouble.
You can cast resists, protections etc.

If you take 2 levels in rogue you get evasion, a dex of 14+ and +reflex save gear will be enough on any normal/hard solo mode, if your running elite you may require better gear or know of tricks to get past traps.

I would rather go the higher dex/evasion reflex saves than have to pump points into intel stat and search/disarm skills.

You can go 2 rogue or 2 monk. I went 2 monk at the start.

I got to level 23 with the +10 reflex Paracitic armor, never died on traps even on epic runs. If your in Bear form and have the Druid reflex bonuses, all your saves with basic gear and buffs will be +30 and above, current reflex was +35, Bear form is best, wolf takes too much fire damage on elite runs.
