Wellmet All, I am Sto. I run Sto's Lottery, I will be using this thread to advertise my services & Hopefully once I get better with the layout of the forum, of which Im am not very familiar with yet I will be able to use this & cut down on the ingame posts. I will return with updates hopefully on this thread. Again I am not very familiar with the forum as of yet.

Would you consider creating and using your own chat channel? Many players on Thelanis take exception to your methods and activities. While I am fairly neutral on this, I am not happy how frequently primary channels (trade, advice) seem to get hijacked by these heated discussions. I have on multiple occasions asked you and your accusers to take scam discussions to a private channel.

+1 to you for coming out into the open and confronting whiners. Frankly i haven't heard about you or your lottery before the whine posts here and i'm still not familiar with it, i only know there is a lottery, so if you could describe it a bit more in depth, my curiosity would be satisfied.

As for separate chat channel, looks like a good idea at first glance, but whats stopping trolls from joining there too, and then there is the matter of advertising your channel and you are back at square one.

For every 1 player who takes acception there are many who support me, there are 100's of people every month who participate in my player run event. but it seems the few get more attention just because they are more disruptive than anything I do, guess thats there goal. I dont like something so let me riot in the streets & disrupt the whole game. Fact of the matter is if they would just squelch & keep to themselves this post would never be nessessary. Tell me Im wrong about that. As for the 100's that support me, fear not I am here to stay. Sto

Yah, I'm neutral on his lotto; and although I am the one who complained about the OTHER folks spamming about it (squelched sto long ago to ease the advertising - which he was doing in trade chat where it SHOULD be), I' don't think Sto himself can do anything to stop the side effects.

It's people who are trying to warn others about the fact the lotto is player-driven that were causing heartache last week. They just need to squelch Sto if they don't like the lotto and let it go. Don't like it, don't play.

I will post the whole outline when I set up for next months event. but quickly ill try to sum it up. Every month I hold a lottery, tickets are 1 PP each, 1st prize is 1,000,000 PP reguardless of how many tickets I sell. Last day of every month midnight I roll 1d# tickets sold in a raid party. Me + 11 witnesses, of course ticket holders have priority & if there are not 11 ticket holders online, I then open it to the public anyone who wants to watch the roll. I do this to show the event is honest. The will be additional prizes depending on how many are sold. I will post a much more detailed account of the proceedure when Im setting up for next months event. Sto

I'm not saying your not legit, I just think it would add to your credibility if you were transparent about that.

It won't entirely*, but the openness here will help calm those who may be lurking on the fence.

Also opens up the field for invites to the lottery roll raid groups. That'd be a big step towards chilling the "scam" critics - and a way to disarm the ones who insist on starting the debates in the in-game chat channels. Maybe hopefully, anyway.

Why would anyone care? How does it affect the person asking? He's not publicly-traded (OMG, that's a fantastic idea - I could sell stock in item traders, his lotto, broker FRDS, etc); thus no need to publicly report.

Not trolling - it just seems logical and exactly the same as RL lottos: Assume you are going to lose the plat entirely. If you don't want to lose the plat (whether to him or to some non-profit altruistic thing), don't play. In RL, our state lotto goes into state coffers. I don't want to lose the money, so I don't play the lotto.

It is simple math... His recent lottos were 1 million plat with tickets sold at one plat each and his messages in game include how many tickets he sold...

I have never played Sto's lotto, but I fully support his right to do business. It is a sign of a healthy economy, and some of his other business services (such as buying festival coins) helped me get started on the server. He uses the same toon to advertise all of his services and anyone who doesn't want to participate only has to squelch a single name.

As I have stated many times profits goto my guild for new airships & amenities. Sto

P.s. Please tell me do YOU ask anyone selling items how much profit they make from selling LDS, FRDS etc. etc. ?

I post how mant tickets are sold, Its pretty easy to figure out how much I make for my guild. Sto

I actually think it's cute to have a lottery. I don't really care if Sto is taking advantage of other people. I squelched Sto long ago, and to his credit, he does not try to spam the lottery announcements from his guildies/alts.

Sto, I don't mind that you run a lottery, and I really don't care if it's actually legitimate. I squelched you because after a week the lottery and other sales went from novel to annoying. I don't know if you spam the channel as much as you used to, but you definitely used to overdo it.

I would encourage anyone who wants to participate to toss some plat or some gear to a new player instead. Buy the +2 shortsword for 3k from the guy selling it in harbor trade for 150 plat, but I guess that is a different issue.

Yah my post above about brokering made me stop to think "what if there were some mechanics to enable more business than straight selling or crafting". I saw a couple healers earlier this year renting themselves out as a "smarter hireling"... slightly more expensive than a real one, but I would think that'd be acceptable to everyone.

That kinda stuff (including Sto's lotto) lends to more immersion.

Sto, if you've toned down frequency of the adverts, say so in this thread... will un-squelch.
