    Default The Artful Dodger

    Build notes for myself:

    Halfling 36-point triple TR 8/6/6 Rogue/Ranger/Fighter

Looking to make a very self-sufficient verstatile defensive-oriented melee character with evasion, high saves, and ranged capability.
    • 25% standing Dodge
    • 10% Ghostly
    • 50% Dodge boost for tight moments (20 seconds every 2 minutes)
    • Evasion
    • Extremely high reflex save
    • Decent AC and PRR
    • Self-healing with dragonmarks and Unyielding Sentinal abilities
    • Solid ranged component when needed
    • Decent DPS when sneak attacking

    Prestige Enhancements
    • Stalwart Defender I
    • Tempest I

    Epic Destinies
    • Unyielding Sentinal or Legendary Dreadnaught, depending on quest
    • Twist1 - Lithe (Shadowdancer Tier II) - +6 to AC, Reflex saves, Max dex bonus in light armor
    • Twist2 - Unearthly Reactions (Magister Tier I) 3% Dodge, +6 reflex saves, tumble through enemies
    • Twist 3 - Perfect Balance (GMoF Tier I) 3% Dodge, +6 Jump, Tumble, Balance

    Past Lives:
    • Ranger (+2 to element resistances, +2 bow damage)
    • Paladin (5% healing amp)
    • Rogue (+1 to sneak attack, +2 to trap saves)

    Feats (Free):
    • Bow Strength
    • Rapid Shot
    • Manyshot
    • TWF
    • ITWF

    Feats (Taken):
    • GTWF
    • Dodge
    • Mobility
    • Spring Attack
    • Toughness
    • Extend
    • Improved Critical: Pierce
    • Combat Expertise
    • Past Life: Paladin
    • Past Life: Rogue
    • Least Dragonmark Of Healing
    • Lesser Dragonmark Of Healing
    • Greater Dragonmark Of Healing

    Dodge Bonus
    • 4% Duelist Leathers (22 Max Dex - use twisted in ability Lithe to increase this)
    • 3% Air Bracers or Grim's Bracelet
    • 2% Crafted Goggles or Mabar Cloak or Trinket
    • 3% Dodge feat
    • 2% Mobility
    • 2% Spring Attack
    • 3% Twisted in Unearthly Reactions (Magister Tier I)
    • 3% Twisted in Pefect Balance (Grand Master of Flowers Tier I)
    • 3% Passive Rogue bonus

    = 25% standing Dodge
20 seconds of 50% dodge every 2 minutes (Improved Uncanny Dodge)

    AC and PRR
    • Fairly easy to get in the high 80s or so when in Unyielding stance, which is more than a 50% miss chance against like-leveled opponents.
    • PRR in leather armor is low, but Unyielding Sentinal helps here
    • 10% Ghostly
    • Displacement clickables

Self-healing (can also heal others and often do)
    • 4 Dragonmark Heals (heal for about 600)
    • 4 Unyielding Sentinal Mass Heals (also heal for about 600) - recharges slowly
    • 7 150 point Cure Serious Wounds

I could also do 12/8 Fighter/Rogue (but lose favored enemies, Ram's Might, Ranger Devotion, Tempest I, and ranged ability). Gain a feat and Stalwart Defender II though.

or I could do 12/8 Ranger/Rogue (feats are tight with the ranger variant - lose two feats - I'll revisit this idea after the enhancement pass - hopefully they also drop Dragonmarks to only needing one feat).

I just got Unearthly Reactions 3 last night and i have to say... *BAMF!*

love that ability. It's like evasion on steroids, at least when you know what's coming (i.e. traps, spells coming at you from a distance, etc.).

example: LoD elite trapped staircase --> ghosted right to the bottom safely and easily.
When you stand out in the rain, you get wet.

Not sure what your planning on gear here, but if you picked up three more dodge from gear (or 2 from HoGF and stand at 24% dodge) you could twist in Imp. CE for 20 more PRR. It is a Tier two ablity and that means more grinding for xp at cap, but it might be worth it.

Yes, that tumble through enemies thing is very very cool.

My main guy is currently 12/6/2 fighter/ranger/monk with all of the EDs, twists, feats, and gear listed above.

    He has 22% Dodge.

    If I go with 8/6/6 rogue/ranger/fighter:

    I'll lose
    • Drop from SDII to SDI
    • Drop from Haste Boost IV to Haste Boost III
    • 5 feats (Weapon focus, Weapon spec, Cleave, Greave Cleave, Overpowering critical)

    Gain:
    • 3% passive Dodge
    • 50% clickable Dodge (Improved Uncanny Dodge - 20 seconds every 2 minutes)
    • 4d6+9 sneak attack damage
    • Full UMD
    • 60% Scroll Mastery
    • Damage Boost III
    • Full traps and locks ability

Not sure which way to go... Should probably drop the Dragonmarks though if I go rogue, since heal scrolls and Unyielding Sentinal heals are pretty solid all by themselves.

Those first six levels or ranger are hard to pass up. I notice them in at least three of your builds.

You also get precise shot at level 4 of ranger now. I'm sure you know that you get diehard at level 3 too, but it's hardly worth mentioning.

Yep, 6 levels of ranger gives a LOT...

Plus, having a solid ranged component as a melee isn't useful all the time (or even very often), but it sure it nice that when I need to range, I can effectively. It can be especially useful when soloing.

I would love to go 12/8 fighter/rogue for a light dodge-based evasion tank, but I just don't know how to give up the 6 ranger levels.
