    Default Best 2nd Elements

    What are the best secondary elements for each savant.
    I don't care about which is the best savant choice, I want to know for each one individually.

    What I've thought:
    Fire <> Earth
    Water <> Air

    Are there going to be immunity problems which these choices?
    I didn't invest well enough in my main savant(Air) and it really blows when I meet monsters immune to electricity. Trying to build others so as not to have to fix them all later....

    Second question, and probably too easy, is there any point in investing in an opposite element?
    I haven't looked through every spell to see what caster level it caps at but do these take effect before or after the penalties?

    For example, if a spell capped at caster level 10 and you are 20 with a -9 caster level, would it still be the same or would you drop down to caster level one for that spell?

    I have my water savants set to acid for my second element...too many demons in the game now to have electric as a main or secondary, in my opinion.

    Only spell I cast of the opposite element on my water savants is Resist Energy: Fire, though.

    Have electric savant with cold secondary. Have had very good success in new content with this setup. I enjoy it anyways

    I go with electric as a second to water mainly only because of eldars. Though lately I think it will change to earth to have a lil bit extra versatility.

    For earth it would be water. Not only cause of niacs but the area storm, and polar ray.

    For fire id prolly be earth as well.

    I really wish they'd get some new spells for air. Preferably some things NOT reflex based.

    On my water savant I had both electric and acid at 7/1/1. This meant that I had double dots for raids (crucial for raid DPS) and acid spells for Abbot. Acid Rain+Ice Storm+Web is a brutal, easy combo for just about any situation.

    I wouldn't do fire savant at cap due to too many resistances though maybe this has changed in U14. Another good reason not to do fire is because of how nice ice spells are.

    I really liked Earth Savant and used cold as secondary with a dabble into electricty (1/1/1 iirc) for EES for devil content.

    Air Savant is a really nice idea but it doesn't work for me as it is the worst choice for running Abbot which is a raid that I enjoy. Cold secondary is a no brainer (for dual dots) but some force or fire could work too.

    I second all of this. On my first sorc life I went Water + Air, but I've found I just love Acid Rain too much, so now I'm fitting Earth in as secondary with Air more tertiary. Though I know by the maths that Water + Air = most dps, Water + Earth just fits my playstyle better at the moment. When all else fails, Acid Rain + Ice Storm + Web, and your problems just melt away.
