    Unhappy I need help!

I have come to the conclusion that my computer and cable connection are too fast for the game servers and are causing the rubberbanding effect I constantly have to deal with while trying to play. So, what is the proper connection speed to prevent this problem?
I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that most, if not all, games are broken to some extent.
One should not complain about them if one cannot fix them.
I, for one, should take this to heart as I embark upon another journey through this game.

I believe 56.6 Kbps is the best connection speed to play on.

Higher settings will go too fast for the game servers.

Are you serious?I am trying to find out what the best settings would be because I can change my internet account starting next month. Right now I'm sitting at 36-52Mbps download and 8-15Mbps upload speeds. I need to know how far to drop it so the game plays properly.

DDO enforces a cap on the bandwidth it uses to communicate between the client and server. The bandwidth it uses is in fact so small that any cable connection will be way much more than is needed, but there is no penalty for having more. The maximum speed of your connection is not relevant. Dropping it down will only hurt your ability to do other things on the internet.

As far as I know, there is no such thing as "too fast a connection" and that would not cause rubber banding. A number of issues could cause rubber banding, and some of the common ones are graphics card related. I'm no expert at that but I'm sure someone else in this forum who is will reply and guide you.

Occasionally rubber banding CAN be caused by server lag, but that, too, has nothing to do with connection speed.

Where are you seeing the rubber banding? Does it happen all the time or just rarely?

It happens almost constantly at times and then other times it's just about every 10-15 minutes.

I was also asking if it was getting progressively worse over time, which would indicate some sort of resource usage or hardware failing.

If you post your computer's DXDIAG report (its explained in one of the messages early on in this forum), people more knowledgeable than me can tell you if one of your graphics drivers or sound drivers need replacing or could be causing a problem. I've seen that be the cause of a lot of stuttering and rubberbanding problems mentioned in this forum.

But here are a few things you can do "just in case",

    - power cycle your computer modem and router off for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
    - Do you have any Anti-Virus, VOIP software (like Skype, etc.) or file sharing software running, or anything that might affect your connection?
    - In the game, are you set to DX9? DX10? DX11?
    - Have you tried setting the Engine Speed lower in the game options (I think its in the troubleshooting section).
    - When was the last time you defragmented your hard drive?
    - When was the last time you ran a good deep virus/malware scan?

Rubber banding has nothing to do with connection speed, it has everything to do with ping and packet loss.

Find out where the servers are that you are connecting to.

Go to www.pingtest.net and select a destination roughly in the same area. For gaming you want to be in the A to A+ range.

(This is an excellent suggestion, I'm going to file it away for the future...)

I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that most, if not all, games are broken to some extent.
One should not complain about them if one cannot fix them.
I, for one, should take this to heart as I embark upon another journey through this game.

That is an integrated video card on your motherboard and the driver is almost 4 years old (not certain that they ever released a newer version). It uses system memory as video memory which can cause bottleneck issues when doing video intensive things (like gaming)

If I was having lag issues I could see where that would be a problem, but would it also go for rubberbanding issues? Rubberbanding is where my computer keeps playing the game while the feed from the game tries to keep up until my buffers are full and the game pops me back to where the server says I'm at. Sometimes that's a few seconds, sometimes I end up in the previous quest.

Integrated videocards usually use the same physical memory as your system. Or in other words, while the Graphics Processor is working on the memory it may lock out the Main Processor and this way all other drivers and background processes, including your Network Driver.

So this doesn't need to be the underlying issue but it at least isn't helpful for the performance and may indeed lead to various effects including rubber-banding. So you should try to upgrade the driver regardless if possible, by going to the NVidia page and downloading a GeForce 6 driver:

    * We have collectable bags, mind you, even hireling folders, but can I have that 6-pack for my potions please?
    * Having already a past life on the dieng EU servers, I rerolled here and started from scratch as I like the game and the community, so lets see what awaits me here

Ok, I upgraded my system and graphics drivers and it's still happening. Any more suggestions?

I would suggest spending 50 bucks for a PCIe video card if your system has a PCie slot. If nothing else you'll enjoy better fram rates and free up that shared memory back to the system for it to use in playing the game.

saved you some time, it does have a PCie slot. Might I suggest the following cards for you.

Last 2 will do the job just fine and about 5-10 times better than that intergrated 6150e

Find out where the servers are that you are connecting to.

Go to www.pingtest.net and select a destination roughly in the same area. For gaming you want to be in the A to A+ range.
Heh, my connection rates a D to that part of the world (and would do constantly) yet I don't get much issue with rubber-banding. The biggest issue is chasing mobs to places they no longer are, but the client seems to deal with that logic well enough.

(My TZ is 12 hours ahead of the servers, and due to the speed of light that means ~320ms ping times, give or take, with up to 60ms jitter - however, packet loss is negligible).

I'm sure I'd be the one constantly fragged in a true FPS style game - DDO, not so much, as I can still preemptively twitch for the most part.
    Goe ahed... korekt mah spelin'.

Lower graphical settings to the minimum so there is no more discussion about whether or not this is caused by your integrated graphic card.

Then tell us more about your network setup.
Is it on a campus? Building? Is your connection shared with other people?

DDO doesn't need a high bit rate but other network activities can disrupt the flow of data and make the client and server async.
Is there a lot downloading or uploading on your network?

Do you have special equipment on your network?

    ...

I consider myself very much a novice at reading DXDiag reports, but let me throw this out for discussion in case it tweaks the minds of those more knowledgeable than me.

I didn't understand these lines in the DXDiag:

    + Terminal Server Keyboard Driver
    | Matching Device ID: root\rdp_kbd
    | Upper Filters: kbdclass
    | Service: TermDD

    + Terminal Server Mouse Driver
    | Matching Device ID: root\rdp_mou
    | Upper Filters: mouclass
    | Service: TermDD

    Description: Modem #0 Line Record

I did see from a web search that the Terminal Server drivers can keep a system from going on standby, does that mean they could somehow interfere with the graphics hardware or RAMDAC? Or could they be indicative of some unusual software being used on the system which might have an impact?

And what about that modem line, is that typical? Or does it indicate there might be a modem installed in the system and would that matter?

Just taking long shots, I realize, and probably speaking beyond my knowledge level....
