Lost and Found - too effective...?

I have a small ingrediense bag and a tiny hireling folder, that I am not using any more, and I seriusly just want to get rid of the **** things.
Problem is, that every time I "drag-n-drop" destroy said items, "Lost & Found" finds them and mails them back to me.
And they are seriusly good.. from the Waterworks, to Korthos and the Sands, my effing trash keep returning to me.
Mail: Lost and Found (Attached = tiny hirelings folder).
Mail: Lost and Found (Attached = small ingredients bag).

And no, I havent Bug-reported this, cause it isnt a bug. It is supposed to act this way, because sometimes people throw away the wrong bag. And it should, because that blows.
But if you are very, very, Very, VERY shure you want to loose that bag, what do you then do?

Have tried to search the forums, compendiums and such, dont seem to be any way to work around this.

Have u tried not detaching the bag from the mail and letting the letter expire?

So, uh, *** is lost and found? Seriously, I've been playing for about 2 years now, and this is the first I've ever heard of this in game.

How long do you have to wait? - it annoys me greatly to have mails waiting.
And do they disappear?
Since I cant delete them with items attached, I doubt they will delete themselves...?

Just open the mail once, without detaching the item from it.

It will delete itself eventually. Can't remember the exact time, something like a week (faster than leaving it unopened), it will list its expiry time in your mailbox.

It's a system put in place to "fix" the lost ingredient bags bug that some people have experienced in the past. Basically, if a bag is destroyed by dragging it out of your inventory, it comes back to you with everything that was in it. Great if you did it accidentally, not so great if you actually wanted to get rid of it, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons in this case.

That is seriously strange. I've drag n' drop destroyed half a dozen (at least) bags of various sorts and never heard of this.

It's "fairly" recent, and it doesn't seem to apply to all bags.

I have no solid data on what does and does not come back, but those tiny bags you get from whats'erface off the boat from Korthos do not come back. I did have an empty BTC medium collectable come back to me, though.
