I wouldn't mind the underdark staying as is, but if they do want an extra light source couldn't they just change everbright to work like the staff in Rainbow in the Dark?

Due to technical limitation, not possible.

It's totally true, I have a reliable source. You better reroll now.

The correct way is as above along with light spells etc.

Unless the Dev's are determined to not do the correct think then at least do the lesser evil of the wrong thing. (e.g. /Signed)

    light spell?!?

in DND pnp EVERY magical weapon can shed a light as if effected by the light spell.( unless otherwise mentioned that it doesn't ,like some named items).

rise your hand any level 20+ character WITHOUT a magic weapon?!?

but I would welcome some options..... later.

I thought the eberron races were going to have a method of unlocking their vision abilities.

and it seems to me that there should be quest items, spells, abilities, etc. That we could gain that would make fighting in the Underdark easier for us..... eventually.

But first time there, Drow should have an advantage. It should be a foriegn environment we have to learn to cope with.

IMO, part of challenging a high lvl group is to hinder them.
one way to hinder them is to force them to remove some of their uber gear to adapt to a specific challenge.

Plenty of stuff for you to fight on the surface, that you can wear your normal goggles while doing so.

Let's not remove all of the flavor from the game please.
    I agree

Raise your hand if you PnP toon has a selection of 20+ magical weapons of all varieties.

Obviously, the game has to strike a balance with how this game is played an the developers wanting to give challenge vs using an optional rule on magical weapons and light.

I don't even want Darkvision. I like underdark alot more in the dark blueish hues than a grayscaled sharpend filter on top, which you can probably emulate anyway through your graphics driver settings.

I don't mind the effect being on a pair of goggles that are easy to obtain though. I think something as cool as the undersun affect should be open to everyone. If you don't play one of the races that gets the benefit though, you're going to have to give up an equipment slot to get it, or have a spell cast on you. Playing one of those races will always be the most advantageous because it will cost you no equipment slot and will not be able to be dispelled (such as by a beholder's anti-magic cone).
Don't forget elves, half elves and I believe halflings get low light vision, like they did in beta..

Other than making mobs red what do the googles even do? I ask as I didn't see a large benefit to them.
