    Exclamation Arcane Archer/Deepwood Sniper

So, I was running around on my Arcane Archer yesterday, and Turbine you did an awsome job with Shiradi Champion, thank you, I got to thinking. How many people actually use Deepwood Sniper? I would assume not nearly as many that play Arcane Archers. For those of you that do have hope for Deepwood Sniper to get higher tiers, please, don't hate me/this idea haha. I would like to see the current "True Strike" ability that comes along woth Ranger/Elven Arcane Archer I be replaced with the "Sniper Shot" that comes along with Deepwood Sniper I. Personally, I feel that the description of "Sniper Shot" would fit in to an ability called "True Strike", (Especially since the "Not breaking stealth mode" is a bunch of ****). Just something for you guys, and the devs, to think over.

Nobody plays DWS because turbine hasn't done anything with it. It's decent up til level 9 imo, but once you get to 9, switch to AA.

Until they put DWS abilities in that compete with AA, no one will play a DWS to cap.

My point exactly, if we just combine the two, people would be much better off. This would benefit Turbine too, as they would not have to try to come up with additional benefits for the Deepwood Sniper. I'm sure it would not be too hard to rewrite some codes so that True Strike acts as Sniper Shot.

So you would be down for putting them together? Or are you completely against it?

    against
    aa is for bow-user
deepwood is available for all others
besides, why would arcane archer, who's really more into imbuing shots, be able to make snipes?

Well, the term "True Strike" seems like it would have more of a bonus than simply adding +20 to your next attack. If I am not mistaken, Deepwood Sniper "Sniper Shot" only works with bows, and the main staple of the ability, is that it does not break stealth, when it actually does. I just feel that combining these two, or replacing the "True Strike" effect with the "Sniper Shot" effect, would be more useful. In my mind, replacing this would actually give people with the Deepwood Sniper a chance to expand their builds a bit. By switching from Deepwood Sniper to Arcane Archer, even if you only go Arcane Archer I, you would get the create arrows and force imbue. I have never personally played a Deepwood Sniper, so I am not sure how often you need to buy arrows. Either way, I think making a stack of 100 +1 Returning arrows would be much more cost effective. Feel free to disagree, however, I still think that this wood be a major benefit to players on both sides of the spectrum.

    sniper shot works with crossbows
and before you make any suggestions for these PrEs, might want to just wait out for the Enhancement pass

I did not know it worked for crossbows. I also had no idea there was an "Enhancement Pass" either. This is why I posted this. I did not see a benefit to the "Sniper Shot" ability, and I wanted to learn how it affected other people. I appreciate your input.

Going to have to wait til U15 to find out!

OP - Truestrike is based of the spell of the same name in Pen and Paper, which was a straight up +20 to yoru next attack. However, since getting only a handful of solid hits on an enemy was all you needed to win a battle, +20 to one attack meant significantly more than in DDO. Especially now that +20 to hit in the new system isn't even an automatic success! It is a weak ability, for certain.

I am hoping that deepwood sniper gets finished (Even though i will never play it... my Ranger lives on my Bow-user AA TR are already done ), but i am also hoping that AA gets some major tweakage. It has abilities that are pretty awful (Truestrike, Explosive arrows, fearsome arrows), and its leveling progression is all screwy (Your 2nd best arrow imbue is tier 2, making tier 3 and 4 arrows pretty awful), and it is getting seriously outclassed by artificer abilities (AAs get +5 arrows, artis get +6 bolts. AA's get elemental imbues, arti's get elemental/deadly weapon spells and runearm effects. Arti's don't get anything nearly as powerful as Slayer arrows for their crossbows, but their runearm blasts outclass even that!)

And then we can take more than one prestige class enhancement line right? So it might be possible to be DWS and AA if you can meet the requirements for both right?

They have proposed a system that could allow it, but there's no telling if that system iteration will be continued or not.
I would suspect that most of our fears/hopes will be laid to rest when U15 goes to Lamannia.

I mention both ends of the spectrum because I'm sure that not everyone will be pleased with the system, as it is inconceivable(!) to please all people at once.

I think that the explosive arrows may be more useful, if they actually exploded applying an AoE fireball like it soudns like it should. I have contemplated using the Elf AA with ranger DWS but Turbine doesn't allow that haha. This are all really good points, I would love to see Deepwood Sniper get a little love, but I still stand by my original statement that it is a Pre that is used so little, it would probably just be more beneficial to combine it with AA. That, of course, is just my opinion however.
