    Default Divine Punishment & Dumping wis

    after looking at some of the posts here
    its clear nobody is ACTUALLY reading what i've said
    burningdownthehouse got the wrong opinion at first but his 2nd reply seems that he now understands what i actually meant by this
    everyone else is seeing this as a nerf call which truly is not
    90% of divines would see an increase in damage

    but that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about here

    I want to start by saying I don't think Divine punishment or arcane dots need a direct nerf.
    However, I have read several posting about fvs, and the damage they do despite dumping wisdom, their casting stat.

    While most people, who have taken issue with the dots, want a save added to the spells (fort or something silly).
    I'm thinking of a different approach.

    Currently dots do 1d6+1per caster level

    my idea : 1d6+((1 per caster level + wis modifier) / maybe2?1.5?)
    revised :1d6+(1 per 2 casters levels + wis modifier)

    and maybe a reduction of spell power effectiveness
    0.75 per point, 0.5 per point, or even 0.66 though looking at the formula it might not be necessary

    I leave that up to the devs (and those who want to crunch the numbers)

    Thus providing a reason for favored souls, clerics or if applied to sorcs/wizzies a reason to get those casting stats high.


    I don't know if this was suggested before or not, if it was sorry to have wasted your time

    Personally I don't want nerfs however if the spell power is balanced properly this won't actually nerf casters unless they dumped caster stats (which I personally have no problem with)

    I generally don't play divines because I don't like healing, however I do have a arcane and would not complain if this was applied to all 3 dots(I don't count black dragon bolt because it has a different mechanism)

    Build versatility is GOOD, and casters that dump their casting stat pay for it in a myriad of different ways. There is really no reason to regulate this any further.

    starting 12 wis + 6 item +3 excep(2 insightful now it seems) +2 ship buffs +3 tome(to balance it) = 28
    if Spell power is 1%/point then 1d6+((1 per caster level + wisdom modifier / 2) is 5.5 damage less(before spellpower) then current

    My idea was not to nerf those who dumped wis but rather boost those who didn't.

    1d6(3 avg)+((20+9/2) = 3+10+4.5=17.5
    with say 40 wis
    1d6(3 avg)+((20+15/2)= 20.5


    current 1d6+20=23

    looking at these numbers a better formula might be : 1d6+(1 per 2 caster levers + wis mod)

    1d6(3avg)+(10+9)=22
    this would be one less then our current for a 12 starting wis that had no lvlup bonuses applied

    1d6(3avg)+(10+15)=28

    while i'm not doing the math correctly I can't be too far off
    One spell would not "pidgeon hole" the class
    just address the casting stat dump complaint that I've seen in several threads offering devs a non-nerf option

    unless of course you'd like to see more complaints about dumped casting stats and the removal of offensive spells from said divine classes? Which is unlikely, but you get my point.

    personally I like divines the way they are (the classes anyway some players not so much)

    There are enough incentives to boost wisdom, and instakilling caster soul is probably best favored soul build at the moment. Favored soul itself is one of best classes, if not the best class, in the game. So why do you want to buff it?

    You already pay a lot for dumping wisdom. The really cool thing about the FvS-Class is the possibility to do that and still be viable. Take that away and Melee FvS is no longer an option. It kills build versatility.

    What i hate most in this game are players, that are constantly crying for nerfs and when they hit, they all start whining. No, not at all!

    Yes, you can use DP with dumped WIS. There are a lot of spells that work with a dumped casters stat. So you can spend your build points elsewhere and still use those spells. But you loose the majority of your other spells and that a huge downside. As a favourite soul you trade spells like implosion and destruction for more melee power. The devs have made some spells usable with a dumped stat and there are a hundred threads about it already. I guess it's wai and the DEVs should use their time for other things that are more important and really need a fix.

    In that case, don't worry. Dumping wisdom is a build choice, sometimes valid, but definitely not the only available choice out there. And the devs are all for more build options and versatility. They are not going make changes just because some people complain about other peoples build choices.

    People should not be /signing or /notsigning

    my intention was not a suggestion but simply a alternative in a far off what if world

    also if you read it, this would allow for an increase in divine punishment damage

    i'm not asking for support nor am i asking for ... well anything really

    I had an idea that was relevant to other people's posts and shared it
    read what i said and not what you want to hear(so you can enjoy the "your and idiot i hate you" superiority thing)

    To make a long story short: You are suggesting a nerf. And you suggest a nerf to a class you admit not to play. Even if you are “right” on the topic, it still can be considered to be rude. And we had the “nerf dots” topic all over again, even with “your” suggestion, just look it up.

    in fact if it was implemented my arcane would see a 20-25%+ increase to damage

    Archers recently were not nerfed, they were encouraged to stand still

    This will be my last post on this topic because people like to put words in my mouth
