Default Strange static sound on character screen.

Ever since today's Update 14 Patch 1... when I log in and reach the character screen, I am getting a strange, static sound with the character screen's background theme music. Was fine prior to the update today. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue or not, but my fiancé is having it on her laptop as well. Was there a change in to the sound file possibly?

I thought my speakers or onboard sound was going bad first time. It's not just you.

Got the same here. For me it sounded like a burst of static (or perhaps a clipped effect sound) repeating at approximately 1 second intervals. It seemed to stop for a time if I manipulated the camera position.

I had the same problem here. Even better - i heard few ingame, combat sounds in the same scratchy way.
Changing headphones and speakers and restarting computer didn't help.

I'm glad i'm not the only one... if i can say so
Hope they gonna do something about it soon.

Default Same sound issue at Character screen

I have a similar issue that started with the latest patch. Strange "pffft" repeating every few seconds while the Character screen is loaded. Also occasionally hear it in game in quiet areas.

I have an Audigy Fatality card.

    I get this as well.

I'm pretty sure I figured out what it is, though; it's the waterfall sound (probably from the fountain behind) cutting in for a split second then cutting out again. I've had this pop up in a few other places where the waterfall was in an area, it seems to be really choppy.

    /sarcasm Get a new computer!

Now to be serious. Ok, several of you have the issue. Good (well really bad) but you haven't given ANYTHING to work with.

OS (if you are emulating, best be descriptive of how you are emulating), Sound card, driver version, Sound card interface (pci, on board, etc.)

It sounds like the fountain in the background is glitching it's volume. I had the same glitch in shroud yesterday, where people filling up sp in the pools far away were glitching really loudly.

Unless someone needs detailed information, I'm assuming it's easily reproducible. If it's not widespread (and it seems to be) then I'd be happy to provide system details. But at this point, I wouldn't assume it's a client side issue but a programming issue.

Yes. If you wait for long enough the (very very loud) waterfall sounds becomes constant and a lot more recognizable.

    1) I don't suffer it at all, and my system is a mostly generic HP, mostly generic because it has a little bit better PSU and graphics card that was part of it.
Translation: Stock box doesn't have issue. Why do others have issues?

    2) The directX diags contain all that info and that is the FIRST thing that Turbine techs ask for. If you don't want to be helpful, they can't get info that could help them help you get the software fix necessary. (where is the software fix needed? Could be them, could be you. I honestly don't know.)

experiencing the same static in the charscreen.

and in addition, the same cracks and pops appear on ppl in my group/raid shooting repeaters and Harry firing his cometfall when he gets airborne
theres no louder or lower like it was before in these sounds, a repeater user firing its weapon can stand right beside me on be in the other end of a quest, the loudness of the sound is the same (100%) and sounds broken (static noise like a broken speaker)

edit: apparently the enviromental sound for weapon effects from partymembers is 100% (like standing right next to them) no matter where i am in a quest, which is quite annoying, i had to turn it completely off

I'm having the same issues, and its not just on the Eberron character screen. It does it on the FR one too, with the dragon fly by. I also get the popping here and there in game. It happens with both my onboard sound and my external USB headset.
