    Default Class Choice Difficulties

So, after about a year away from the game i come back to see alot has changed and realised that one of my previous builds of a 13 rouge, 6 ranger, 1 barbarian is no longer a good choice to play so i am planning to re-roll a new character but now im stuck for choice with going casters (unsure for which is best sorcery or wizardry) that deal good damage and can solo begining levels very easily and then being very good at damage and grouping end game, i may splash with 2 rouge and 1 barb or different splashes but i need some help with the choosing what is best as the new updates now have confused me for choice.

After playing through all the new quests on a Fighter, Bard and Wizard, I'd say a Half-Elf Stalwart Defender Fighter with Heal scroll dilly should trivialize it.

Since you like casters and you want to splash Rogue, but from what I understand, you also want to be able to heal yourself if needed, I'd say a Warforged 18 Wizard/2 Rogue.

Take level 1 as Rogue, 2-7 as Wizard, 8 as Rogue, then 9-20 as Wizard. This will give you enough points (if you max Intelligence and get at least a +2 INT Tome at level 7) to maximize Concentration, Disable Device, Search, Spot, and Use Magic Device, which would be the most important skills for this kind of build.

    Something like this, basically.

    Code:
Character Plan by DDO Character Planner Version 03.12.02

Level 20 True Neutral Warforged Male

I didn't go in depth picking Feats or anything, I just wanted to layout the basic skills and level progression, etc. If you wanted, you could replace the two Rogue levels with Artificer levels, to get three extra spells and Rune Arm Use, and still be able to maximize the important skills mentioned above. I didn't put any points in Open Lock because one, there weren't enough points, and two, you can just use Knock to open pretty much anything that's locked.

This is still a solid, versatile combo, IMHO. Yeah, Tempest I got nerfed hard a while back and a pure rogue will have a lot more sneak atks. But you still get plenty of SAs, skill pts, +10% run speed, and some archery feats to round out your build.

But hey, if you still feel it's time to move on...
(unsure for which is best sorcery or wizardry)
Short answer is you go sorc if you want to focus on elemental-based DPS and wiz if you want to focus on CC & instakills. If you go wiz, the usual advice is go Archmage if WF and go Pale Master otherwise. [Although some argue PM is so good right now at endgame, even WF should go PM.] A pure wiz is a better endgame caster but rogue 2 / wiz 18 is a solid versatile combo, esp. if you like soloing.
