Normally I would say, you snooze you lose. But this case is different. Good luck!
When asked, "What are we going to do tonight?" the only acceptable answer is, "The same thing we do every night...Try to take over the world!"

I was in a founding guild.
Other then being up on the stone in the harbor there is no benefit.

    OP:
Sorry I hope you get the guild back.

I must say i don't find anyone to "blame" for it though.

If the people you left in charge of the guild all wanted to switch guilds or leave the game they can't be expected to not do so because of an obligation to someone who doesn't play anymore so i don't blame them.

You can't really expect or want game GMs to have the power to make guild leadership changes.

You can't really expect Turbine support to get involved although it would be nice.
I'm sure they have considered what to do with guild issues and "by the book" do not get involved.
Perhaps then your issue has never gotten past the ticket sorters to be read by anyone who could actually help you.
Or maybe it has and the fact that you didn't seem to leave a way to contact you in RL in case of big guild changes was weighed against your case (it kind of implies that the guild wasn't as important to you when you left as it is to you now - true or not).

Even if they don't get involved in such matters I don't see why Turbine couldn't "go out on a limb" and make a super-secret exception for this case with the provision that if the current leader materializes at some point and complains it would be revised.

After all, if you MyDDO that guild it lists no leader at all which must mean the leader is archived.

If the leader is archived I think it would be pretty safe to switch leadership to an active member.

I doubt this is a coup d'etat years in the making.

And to the OP, hope all turns out well for you, I would say your best bet is to put in another ticket then immediately ask to be elevated to a higher level GM. Too bad Sparker isn't a GM anymore, he was the best

@dredre9987: Yes, my character's name is Mydnight-khy (actually, if you were to go to add me to the Friends List, you would have to type in Mydnight-khyber, which it used to be when I returned a year ago). This happened because of the server merge, and the person coming to this server did not get the suffix added to their name but, my toon did. Makes no sense to me either but, it is what it is. Additionally, you stated you did your research on MyDDO and saw that my character's last name is indeed Darkwalker, which indicates that that is my toon. The other Mydnight that you searched, does not have a last name, so that obviously is not my character. If you deduce from the facts, you should know which toon is mine. If you are wondering why I dont include the "-khy" in my signature, it is because I did not name my toon that, DDO did and I strongly disagree with giving my character, who did NOT have to transfer, an added suffix on her name ..... and, it would make my signature too long (more than 4 lines).

@Full_Bleed: My real life friend does not play anymore, and in fact, as you will see in the links I provide below, that he has not been in over 2 years and 3 months. He has the 4 characters, Mighty, Chieftain, Archmagister and Sleeper. I was going to try to get him playing again with me but, as I stated before, he is not returning my texts. If my memory serves me right, I actually tried to get him to be the leader when I was going to leave but, he declined then and asked it be left to someone else. Though, in you guys'/gals' eyes, this would be speculation so, take it how you would see it, I suppose.
The person "Wryn" (who is also Islander and Ewo), which you will see has logged in almost 2 weeks ago, logged in after the Menace update and was logged in when I wasnt, though I did send him an in-game mail to see about catching up. However, he hasnt logged in since and previous to that, he didnt log in in over a year (Year and 2 months +), so I dont think he s serious about playing, more so checking out the update briefly and then moving on (I believe he still gets emails from DDO). Again, make it out however you would see it.

@phillymiket: Actually, back then when we founded thse guilds on launch date, there was in fact, a benefit to having a Founder's Guild, which was the Founder's Helm (gives Lesser False Life) (in which my original 4 characters have, Mystyq being a recent creation, though I think she may have it too, but she was not a founding character) and the Amulet of Natural Armor (gives Natural Armor Bonus +1). I have equipped both of these on Mydnight if you anyone wishes to see them via the character search, Mydnight-khy on Khyber server, on MyDDO. Back then, when we all were starting out, these items were in fact useful at the time. Aside from the statue, there was no other benefit and we only had a month (if I recall correctly) to build our guilds up to be on the statue post in the Harbor. Only one of my characters, Knyghtshade, did not make it on the statue (he came some 2 months later) but Mydnight, as you see as the leader (without the -khy, which the statue does not reflect the name change from server transfers), Mythril and Silhouette are there.
I see your points and I agree with most of them. I do not blame anyone either, and as far as obligations go, I didnt expect that either but, what I did hope for was responsibility to the guild itself. If something came up similar to my life, or something of the sort, the only thing I wanted to happen was the same thing I did, make sure the guild was taken care of. However, I get your point of view as well so, no argument here though I hope that clarified my side of the point. Again though, I do not expect the GM's to make leadership changes as I stated in my OP, all I asked for was to help me take that leadership on my own, whether by allowing me officership or right to succession due to inactivity within the guild itself. You are also right in that, there is no leader, nor no successor for the guild and in my pics linked below ... they've been gone for quite some time themselves.
*EDIT*: By the way, they have current contact info (email and current cell phone # included) and the names of all my characters so, getting in touch with me should not be a problem.

Good points listed so far and again, thank you to all of those who have helped support me in my efforts. I sincerely hope this falls on eyes and ears of someone who can help me achieve the goal. Here are the links to the screenshots of my guild and the roster (Photobucket to the rescue!), in order of Last Time on, from most recent down.

The person who made the name later got the suffix, so apparently whomever got sent to our server made the name on their server before you. Strange, as it doesn't exactly seem like a go-to name, more of a "tried this several times and had to settle" name. No offense. As a Beta founder and guild leader, I understand the desire to be *the* guild leader...I mean, you are the *founder*...your guild's name is on the stone. I got lucky and turned leadership over to my best friend when he told me he was playing again and wanted to run things. Stories like yours is one of the big reasons we are IRL Friends Only now. I had random members, but that never panned out. Now we're back with new friends to boot (12 accounts total and we all know each other in some way). When I got on and retook leadership, I made one of my other characters successor, so that if I went down, the guild went down. I founded it and was not going to let it get driven into the ground by some knucklehead, hehe.

Anyway, you should reform, mate. It sucks, but if the devs can't help...that's basically it. They aren't going to help you based on a Founder's Helm. They wouldn't even give me the Founder title, despite my join date (not blaming them...I missed the boat). Whatever you decide to do, good luck, mate.

Assuming that all officers are inactive, you should be able to get it back by sending an e-mail to support. Or calling them. I'm sure they have a way of promoting you.

It would seem from your post that you were gone from 2007-2011. So you were gone more than you have been a player. This is why they made the changes they did and rightfully so, if I had a guild leader that left for four years and came back wanting everything back in wrapped all nice in a bow I would laugh.

Cannot blame any of the other players that finally left the guild die a slow death either as you left them dangling in the wind.

Everyone has rl issues but Turbine should not be expected to clean up a mess clearly created by a player that did not care for four years to address. No ones real life is that busy that you cannot log in very 60 days just to touch base and not play.

Essentially you just want your vanity plate back and since you did not care about any of the other "founders" that helped you create that guild I have 0 sympathy for your perceived dilemna.

    Time to move on.

After founding my guild, the Underworld Legion on launch date, and having played for almost a year afterwords, I found myself taking a rather lengthy vacation, mainly due to real life situations and some to do with the major lack of content the game had back then. At the time, the game only allowed for up to 5 characters and the quests were rather slim to choose from and quite frankly, after capping them all at level 10 and running the same quests 15,000 times (exaggeration of course), it got rather boring. So after leaving my guild in good hands to people I was assured would take care of it (I could not have been more wrong), I went about taking care of my real life and getting things back in order.

After returning approximately a year ago (10-12 months or so, I forget now heh), I have found my guild totally abandoned with characters still in it and a guild message saying the guild was being reformed for active players (which doesnt exist that I know of, btw). I am seeing a lot of familiar names in the guild from years past and a few I dont know, namely that of the leader. More to the point, there are 2 people, 6 or 7 characters total, aside from myself, that have been on in the past 3 years and 5 people, about 14 characters or so, again, aside from myself, that have been on in the past 5 years. Past that, everyone else in the guild has not been on in well over 5 years including the leader. This leader has not chosen a successor and the only other person who has logged on in recent is also listed as a member. While I dont know why my characters got removed from officer status, all of my characters are regular members as well and I cannot invite new people to my guild.

I have filed a ticket on the matter and spoken to 2 dev's about it, both saying the same thing, "they cannot meddle in guild affairs", understandable, I am not asking them to do so. All I asked for was to allow me to be able to reclaim my guild, by default due to inactivity, climbing to officer status or something of the sort, and restore its' former glory of being the 2nd largest guild on the server (maybe not in those terms but I am confident I can restore it to prosperity). I do not want to start another guild so please, none of those comments. I founded this guild and had some real life issues, so its meaning to me is personal. I like my guild and I would like to get it back somehow. I was told that there may be a way to get myself to officer level or some such, so I could reclaim it, even though no successor has been named.

In the end, this is a petition for help to get my guild back. Please, I am begging anyone to help me reclaim my guild so I return its activity. I have already had several requests to join my guild from people I have quested with over the past 2 or 3 months and I feel really bad about having to tell them I cannot do it. Please inform me of anything that can be done to aid me in this particular quest. I do not want the Underworld Legion, a founding guild with 3 of my characters' names etched in history on the Harbor Founder's Statue, to die. Please help me to restore it and quest with the people of the best server on DDO!

Thanks for any and all support and for listening to my petition. Here is to hoping some great news comes of this.
I thought there was a mechanic in place to allow members to usurp leadership when the leader is inactive. Is this not the case?

didnt feel like reading through all the psycho babble.. but from what i did read, it sound like your just gonna have to wait until nobody logs in for the 3 months to overthrow or hostile takeover is i like to call it. then boot everybody out and start over.

guilds have a new way of being managed since the introduction of guild ships and renown. 90% of players want the airships and the buffs they have to offer. if you keep it small ( under 20 active accounts ) you will level up fast with no renown decay. and only recruit very active players that are willing to stick it out... took my guild less then 6 months to get to level 50. and we are not power gamers, just your average wanna have fun playing a game type group.

Hi Mydnight. I do not know you but many of your old guildies eventually became mine for a time when I was in the Free Companions. I take it you have tried to contact both the leader and successor? You may try asking Salima who is currently not playing but also a former guildie of yours if she has any info regarding those two. Please pm me for the info.

There were no airships at the time or anything like that ... to that point, not overthrow ability either and I believe guild rights were a bit different then too. The reason I want the guild back is because it is a founding guild of this server, in my opinion it is a part of this server and represents this server, and always will. By that I mean, it will represent Khyber in a positive way. It is a personal thing for me and starting over with a new guild with a similar name is and cannot be the same.

I would like to keep the founding guild I made back in 06 at game launch, pure and simple, and restore it to what it should be, an icon for Khyber. I think it would be something, for members to say they belong to a guild that was formed at the very beginning of DDO.

I hope this can answer your question.
Personally I feel you hold too much attachment to the Guild name and it being in the founders statue, that is just vanity pride if you ask me.

Having a founders guild that still survives from 2006 to now and being famous at the same time is well excellent but to be honest no one actually bothers reading the founders statue and as such I would tell you to move on.

An iconic guild is formed from the pple that are part of that guild, the great pple that makes up that guild and are known throughout khyber and sought after, that is what makes an iconic guild, the guild name comes after that. E.g of such guilds - Elite Raiders, Wanderlust, Revenants etc. People do not care much if such iconic guilds are etched in the founders statue or not as that makes little difference.

Logically speaking Turbine cannot cater to all scenarios and for a player created guild they should not and cannot meddle in it in anyway.

It is just too bad that the leader and officers are all inactive, but to be honest, you could have been inactive and left the guild under the helms of an officer and need not have relinquished the 'leader' status. If you had actually done that, then another member could have done what you did and complained to turbine after a year or so that his leader and officers are all inactive and demand turbine do something to give him the 'officer' or 'leader' status, you see it opens up a can of worms that cannot be resolved as per what you want, because if turbine had done that and a member became 'leader' just like that and you returned after 4 years expecting to still retain your 'leader' status then we would have here another thread complaining foul play hahaha.

So stop trying to find sympathy here as this situation can have no 'justified' outcome and just move on and create your own guild. As per what you claim you already have pple wanting to join you.

Ultimately this is just a game where like minded pple meet and play, so chill and get on with it.

Wow, ok, this seems to have gotten a little off track. Im not sure how some of you seem to think I want some sort of sympathy or think I am whining in some way and blaming someone for something, I am not. I do NOT seek sympathy from anyone nor am I complaining/whining or blaming anyone for anything that happened, these claims are simply untrue. If anyone is to blame for what happened to my guild, ... and let me be absolutely clear about this, this time ... if anyone is to blame for what happened to my guild, it is me, and only me. Yes, I did leave the guild and the game out of necessity, not because of want and yes, I did leave the guild in someone else's hands because I felt that by doing so would be in the best interest of both the game AND the guild isntead of leaving myself as leader and entrusting matters to officers. If I did such a thing, then that in itself would be considered extremely selfish and vague, and only leaving the officers to want to usurp and succeed the guild for themselves later down the road. So as you failed to mention, that entire scenario would have been a two-headed monster with both results ending the down the same path, but I chose the path with humility and sacrifice knowing the outcome before it ever happened.

Secondly, I am not asking Turbine to "meddle" in guild matters in which I mentioned before in the OP and again reitterated in a second post. All I am asking for is a measure in which I can attain that leadership ON MY OWN. As someone stated, there should be a mechanic in place that allows even members to claim leadership if the rest of the officers and leader, are inactive over a certain period of time, or possibly a vote on leadership if multiple members apply to succeed over say, a week's time. All I am merely asking for, and I really do not know how to be much more clear on this, is a way to reclaim my leadership within the guild on my own doing. I am not asking Turbine to meddle in guild affairs, or just pop me to the top just because I asked them to. My words are being severely twisted out of context on the grounds that I am in some way being "vague" or "vain", and that is completely untrue. If you were to speak to anyone that even remotely knows me, you would know that this is not the case at all. As a party leader, I am always asking for group decisions and allowing others to leade the group through a quest. I am the most humble person you could ever meet. If you do not believe me, that is completely your opinion but, I would only ask to find me in game on any of my toons (I have been on Silhouette the most recently) and come quest with me and find out for yourself before passing such judgements against me.

Anyways, to get back on topic ... Again, I do not seek sympathy, I do not seek blame or the want to point fingers at anyone, anywhere and I am not asking Turbine to do something that is against their rules (even though I believe they tell us players "No" way too much), I would never ask them to do that knowing why the rules are there to begin with. However, what I do ask is for Turbine to investigate the matter a second time and consider revising a way for members to succeed a guild in which inactivity is abundant. Per the screenshots I have posted in this thread, anyone can see the enormous and lengthy amount of inactivity within the guild. I have been back for a little over a year now I believe, and I have met a lot of good people in that time, of which, have spoken to me that they would love to be a part of my guild and my efforts. This to me speaks volumes against any claim that being a founder's guild does not have any interest in players today. Im sorry I forget who stated this but, you are right when mentioning there are other guilds today that are "iconic" in a way to Khyber's players but that does not mean an old guild from the founding days of DDO cannot become that very same thing. If I were to accomplish what I have set out to do here, who is to say that the Underworld Legion cannot become iconic once more? As well, absolutely I could "move on" and create another guild, but it wouldnt be the same to me, it would in fact be different. I am not willing to move on, I would rather fight for this guild and have it restored before just giving up entirely on it. I did not give up on the guild back in 06-07, I relinquished it to people I felt would take care of it, doing what was right FOR the guild. Just because I had real life issues to sort out does NOT mean I gave up on the guild, it means that my real life had to come first. Now that I have returned, and again, let me be perfectly clear here, if other members were still active and they had leadership, I would not question that in the least, but they arent here and have not been for quite some time, I am and have been for a little over a year now (BEFORE even bringing this matter up, let's remember that fact) and I would like to reclaim my guild that I am seeing abandoned by all other members. When I left, I didnt abandon the guild, I left it to other ACTIVE people, showing responsibility to the guild and the game itself.

@Tulsa_Doom: I will contact you via PM, and yes, I do remember Salima quite vividly. I remember most, if not all of our former guildmates including one who contacted me and whom Ive quested with yesterday, who I remember as Lunchbox, though his main toon was Lunchtime. He goes by a toon named Deception now but to me, he will always be the Lunchbox! Anyways, I will get in touch with you and maybe we can work something out. As far as I know, the leader is not active and I cannot contact "them" at all, and as for a successor, there is no successor in the guild. If you look at the screenshots I posted in my last post, you will see the entire guild roster and that there is no successor named.

Again, thanks to all who have supported and also thanks to those who gave your opinions. I hope we can come to know each other better in the game in the future. Here is to looking forward to questing with you all at one point or another.

I had been in a guild that was stolen, for whatever reason. Said person kicked out all officer's from the guild, and hyjacked the guild for her own evil puposes. After consultation with said evil person, it was decided to make another guild at that time. Things happen. Adapt and move on. At the end of the day, it is just a game.
