    Default Strange Issue

I have an odd issue where I can't see the break down of my stats in my character page. I know that normally I would just hover my mouse as was always done to see the stat breakdown however now when I do it nothing happens. I may get I little blip in my mouse cursor but that is all. I have no idea why this would happen or what would cause it.

I have removed and re downloaded the client and reinstalled and updated the drivers also tried a different version of active x and tried windows to full screen. I know this is odd and may not make sense but this is what is going on. Windows 7 x64 environment.

    Thanks for the help

It sounds like the mouse over issue you normally see with items, where it pops for a moment and disappears. I've never heard of it effecting anything besides items before. If you are using something besides the basic mouse drivers, or a program that modifies the mouse behavior (such as one that allows you to reprogram the buttons) I would check that.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Nothing to do with your hardware or software - it's DDO-side. Nothing you can do but let them fix it.

That would probably be it then. The mouse is probably just ever so slightly sending the signal it is moving, which would cause the issue you are describing.

Granted the way to be certain would be to get the mouse over the spot you want, then pull out batteries to make a dead, not moving mouse.

Your data stays up? Mouse. Stays off, something else.

Which could be DDO, but I also know that certain tools players create also make the same directX calls which end up causing screwy behavior in ddo. Character planners and the like. It was really strange seeing character planning text bleed through into ddo, also causing DDO NPC names/titles flicker like crazy.

Because I've seen this behavior first hand is why I do NOT blame it soley on Turbine.

I've had it happen with item descriptions but never on the character page.

With item descriptions, moving the item to my inventory off my character, and/or sometimes turning away from other activity on my screen helps.

Maybe try making sure the character sheet is the only thing open? Do it in a not-busy place? And what's your screen resolution set to?

I have been away from the game for about 2 years and never really had any problems with the game. Not being able to see descriptions on items really makes it difficult to get back in the swing of things since you don't know what anything is! I am looking around on Logitech for new drivers, hopefully that will help. If not, I guess I'll just have to wait or switch mice.

    See if this helps:

In you inventory list, select an item, and press Z key. That should pop up a window with that item description. Now go to the character sheet, and hover the mouse on the details you want to know more about.

This works for item details, I don't know if it helps hovering issue, its just a tip.

    I completely forgot about this!

This particular tip should be stickied somewhere because (and this pertains to flickering items, dunno about charsheet tooltips), it works for me every time.

Hey thanks for your reply. I even tried rolling back to DX10 and that didn't work. Today when I came home from worked I switched to a corded mouse and left it on one of my stat numbers and it didn't do anything. Oh well, I'll keep looking around.

Double-check in Options > UI settings that tooltip enable and Show item comparison tooltips are active*, and also make sure that the tooltip delay isn't set overly high or low (*as a 'just in case/just to be sure').

Then try this, go into Graphics and change the 'full screen resolution' option to one lower than you are currently on but don't click okay on the 'do you want to keep this setting?' dialog, instead just let the timer countdown (it's about 15seconds) and it will revert back to what you were previously using.

After it resets back then try hovering over the character panel again. If they're still not coming up at that point try using alt and enter to put the game into windowed mode, close out and relog back in (so it saves/applies the change and resets accordingly) and log back in to test that as well.
