Default Destruction doing super high damage

So, when U14 launched, I immediately went over to Faerun and started questing, and rapidly discovered that my spell pen is nowhere near up to the task of dealing with drow, so I pretty much stopped using Destruction entirely.

Today I went back to Stormreach and ran some old epics, when I remembered that what I was fighting didn't HAVE any SR, so out comes Destruction again.

The third monster I faced made it's save...and died anyway. 464 points of damage.

I did not see anything in the release notes about this. The old 50 points it used to do was kind of a funny joke, but suddenly this is an incredible viable attack even when it doesn't officially work. Monsters in e-N Devil Assault were being taken to half health (or less) on a successful save, and dying on a failed save.
Kobold sentient jewel still hate you.

Of course this is a two-edged sword. Took my lvl18 mixed-melee toon into Tempest's Spine for some elite favor clean-up a week ago. Hill giant soothsayer whacked me for well over 400 hp dmg with destruction. Since I was already at about half health it killed me. Was hardly paying attention to the quest and had to search through the combat log to see what happened. Seems a bit extreme.
