WIS based versus DPS based Monks

Ok, right now, i'm a DPS based monk. I'm in fire stance, and my WIS is not the greatest (started out with a 14). I'm going to use my free LR, and i was wondering whether i should go WIS based. It would definitely be good for Touch of Death DCs.... but most monk DCs are based off of (# + monk level + 1/2 WIS mod). This causes you to need FOUR POINTS of WIS before you get only 1 DC. I also like hitting things... low STR means low attack, and not even to mention damage.

So.... Convince me! Should I go WIS based or DPS based?

Your question is really vague and poorly worded. I say that because you can cap WIS and STILL be DPS. I think what you are asking is should you go 1-trick pony WIS or 1-trick pony STR.

If you have Stunning Fist and Touch of Death, Wisdom-based IS DPS-based.

A stunned mob takes 50% more damage. That's better than getting +4 damage because your STR is 8 points higher.

Touch of death, touch of despair, quivering palm and stunning fist are all a straight wisdom modifier, not half. Wisdom based IS DPS, and indeed quivering palm is infinite DPS

okay, then. thanks for the input.
I'm a Horc, so should my base stats be:

16 STR
16 DEX (i have a +1 tome)
14 CON
6 INT
16 WIS
6 CHA

or

16 STR
14 DEX (and use my +3 tome)
16 CON
6 INT
16 WIS
6 CHA

but how will using a +3 tome work during reincarnation?

Also, theres the point of ability increases. If I put my first 5 into WIS along with my +2 tome i qualify for vorpal strikes... but is vorpal strikes all that great?

Go wisdom until you get 23 base (where base = starting + tomes + levels) and then go rest into strength. On mine I went 16 WIS + 4 tome + 3 levels, and 17 STR + 3 tome + 3 levels = 23 in both. That way you don't have to decide if you're WIS or STR based, and can instead just focus on being PURE AWESOME!

sounds good guys. i plan is starting to formulate in my mind now. thanks for everyones input. One more question though, will LR'ing be affected by having epic levels?
