    Default Pnp style video game

Cutting straight to the chase, i'm after a pnp dnd style video game i can play. I used to play pnp with brothers and freinds, but I moved away and no longer can, and my current schedule would make routing meetings difficult anyway.

So i turn to you, denizens of the ddo forums, do you know any good games like that. The only one I've managed to delve is "Eye of the Beholder" on gba rom and it is a bit lacking in the information it gives about whats going on.

    Or

    - for pc " the legend of grimrock"
Its a newish eye of the beholder faithful 1st person full party dungeon crawler. Check it out at www.grimrock.net

also, while not quite a video game as we normally think of them, there is also Fantasy Ground 2. It is a program that facilitates playing pnp games over the internet with other people. The program itself is pretty easy to learn, but it is ultimately just a tool to play pnp over the internet, so you (or your DM) would still have to create everything before actually playing.

While the games mentioned have some of the aspects I'm after, and I do think i would enjoy them, they dont quite hit the nail on the head. I think a good description of the game I'm hoping exists would be a mesh of Shining Force and DnD. I could stumble around in an overworld freely but when combat arose it would be turn based with DnD rules, or close to them.

I am going to play around with that fantasy grounds, though, and maybe I can use that to get my nerd on.

I highly recommend The Temple of Elemental Evil for a single player experience that comes somewhat close to “feeling” like PnP.

I don’t have enough experince with virtual table tops to recommend one over an other, but I can share a few links to the few I know off.

    D20 Pro

    RP Tools

    Fantasy Grounds

Edit: I didn’t refresh before responding and missed the author's reply.
Change is not always for the worse, but neither is it always for the better.

My suggestions for the upcoming enhancement tree system.

Baldur's Gate I and II is based off of the 2.0 rules and Neverwinter Nights I is 3.0.

Though there is a second NWN, I don't think it's as good as the first, but that might just be me.

Of all four options, the first NWN is my favorite - it also has two expansion packs which really enhance the game.
