Thumbs down DEVS: Sine Wave Sound Effect for Fists of Light

Sounds like there's been a change accompanying the Monk fists of light graphic that pops up over monsters' heads on proc.

There's this sine wave thing that's at an annoying pitch.

It's not game breaking; but after a while, it's VERY annoying.

Devs: If there's any way we can get that sound effect changed in the future, I vote "please do".

    Couldn't agree more.

It's bad enough I bug reported it :/

Edit: Workaround is turn down Combat Sound Effects Channel down to 0.0 while leaving other audio Sound Effect channels at higher values. Gets rid of the sample.

One million percent agreed. I spam FoL quite often and the screeching noise it now makes can be absolutely headache-inducing. While it isn't nearly as horrible as the overwhelmingly loud Favored Soul aura noise, it's pretty bad. If we must have some kind of audio cue, can we make it less obnoxious? Screeching just isn't very monk-like.

I went straight for the new content on my favored soul when the expansion came out. I didn't think anything of the weird noise in the rift (it's a hodgepodge of alien worlds, after all). The first time I ventured into King's Forest, though, I kept freaking out-- I was surrounded by Epic Mutant Bullfrogs! My terror was inevitably followed by confusion; I grew up around wildlife, so I know darned well that squirrels and foxes do NOT sound like that. When enslaved villagers started making the same sound, I realized that maybe it was my aura.

I don't play a monk, but I can totally sympathize if some of your post-update sound effects are (ahem) questionable.

This is the thing - there already is an audio cue for FoL. There's a low sounding thumm noise that issues when FoL lands on an enemy - and this existed before the expansion and is still there if you turn off Combat Sounds but leave General Sound effects enabled.

Didn't know that. I usually keep my sound effects minimal to hear voice chat, so I could've easily missed that. I keep the volume just high enough to hear attack hits and the stunning "doorbell" - gotta love ringing a mob's bell!

But this new screeching noise is loud and obnoxious, even with low audio settings. I'll take a thumm over an ear-piercing screech any day.

love the doorbell! LOVE the doorbell!

but seriously, on topic... i havn't heard the screech yet, as i don't group with any light monks on a regular basis, but i HAVE heard the FvS "WHOOOMP" and it's a bit... overpowering. i don't mind adding sounds, but some of them need to be toned down or changed

Add in the new sound effect they put on the FvS Angel of Vengene PRE, eerytime a mob move in or out of the aura area of eefect.. It goes "Boom".. Even after the mobs are long dea... It's a constant drone of boom boom boom...

Who the heck thought these constant sounds were a good idea? Probably he same dimwit that thought giving PM's the same constant drone that Arcane skellies have was a great idea....

I mean REALLY? Fer fricks sakes...

(Sorry if my post sounds VERY critical of some Devs, but it is, and they deserve it for stuff like this)

THIS sound I really liked. Really didn't need a change, and especially not that whine.

i just grouped with a light monk (on my dark monk)

i was going to come make my own complaint thread when i saw this, over the course of elite gh walk up quests i ended up taking off my headset after the 3rd quests, that noise is so obnoxious i can't believe it got approved.

Get rid of it. No sound effect at all is better than this.

The FvS noise is extremely obnoxious as it hits enemies already dead as well as the live ones. The monk noise is also annoying.

    Hope they will change these.

FvS noise soiunds like someone constantly beating a loose base drum head next to a snare drum with a loose snare... Boom-rattle, boom-rattle.. CONSTANTLY.....

Oh it's all about "game immersion" .... I'd like to immerse someones head in boiling water.... Whoever thought this was a good idea
