    Default ok..some basic advice please:

    I have

"blindness ward goggles of secret door detection"

    blindness immunity
secret door detection (not a clicky).

    again medium slot...

    cratable +6

    so I thought eagle +6
    shard?

if it as simple as getting the shard and putting it in and presto?

AND also what else can go in that slot? yes only something with a suffix...is it restricted to what you find on the ah for goggles with a suffix? as i have just about everything else covered eagle +6 seemed logical...

I just want to throw something in there at this stage...I am being struck blind very occasionally in MOTU so I need to go back to wearing blindness immunity for a while...

    __________________________________________________ ________________________________

I also have health +6 ring of resistance +4 with a medium slot (I use for extra health)...craftable + 10

I have already asked someone to craft me a balance +10 shard...

however I am being told ..."this item already has a suffix...to add a new suffix you must rekey this item for crafting at a deconstruction device to remove all of the effects and reopen the suffix slot"

so..if I rekey it do I remove the resistance +4?

then it becomes craftable... +14? does that mean I can put a balance +14 shard in it...?

I can only add one shard to an item...not two? which I guess makes sense...

    Thanks

I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Medium slot, do you mean a medium guild slot? Are these random items, named items with a craftable option or crafted items that were crafted for you or that you bought of the AH?

In general, when you craft, you can add a prefix and a suffix. For weapons and Armor, you can also add an enhancement bonus. Once all the slots are filled, you can no longer upgrade any effects. You have to put it in the deconstruction device and create a new blank item. In that case, special materials and guild slots remain. Each shard has a certain + rating and you add them together to get the potentian. So a +5 Holy Silver Greatsword of Pure Good has a prefix, suffix, material and an enhancement bonus. +5 is obviosly worth 5, Holy is +2 as is Pure Good. Altogether that adds up to +9. A new blank comes with a potential of +5. To be able to craft the above item, you need to increase the potential to +9 by adding a +6 shard, a +7 shard, a +8 shard and a +9 shard. Then you can complete your item.

Guild slots work differently. You buy a crystal of the correct size from the vendors in house K(or the Store), then place the item and crystal in the Stone of Change and click combine. It will add the crystal's property to the item for 6 (or 12) hours.

If those items you mentioned have been crafted, you can't upgrade them any more, they both have a prefix and suffix already. The + number should be how high they had to boost the potential in order to craft the item. If the craftable potential matches the + of the item in the top right corner, that's probably it.

If that's the case, the only upgrade you can do is to fill the(I'm assuming) guild slot, in the manner I described above.

You can only add one shard of each TYPE to a weapon. One +(Insert number here), one prefix, and one suffix. You can't have two suffix type effects on the same item. If you rekey the item to remove the suffix, yes it will remove all effects. If you want to get something else on it, you'll have to pick a prefix for the second example.

The "potential" craftable number correlates to the shards you want to put on the item AND to the item's minimum level.

A craftable +6 means you can put a suffix and a prefix shard on your item that add up to 6 or less AND your item will become minimum level 11 ((6*2)-1). So you can put a +1 prefix shard and a +5 suffix shard or... a +3 prefix and a +3 suffix... etc. It can't add up to more than 6 unless you raise the potential (and min level.)

You find the shard potential by hovering over the shard in the machine to see in the top corner what it's enhancement level is, or better yet check jjflanigan's web app here:

I am trying to read between the lines here. It appears you may have already aquired/purchased an item which has already been crafted. Your Craftable +6 item appears to have already had Blindness Immunity{2}. and Secret Door Detection{2}, for a total Potential of 4. Items have no enhancement value so this item has a wasted +2 Potential.

You can still fill the Guild Augment Slot from a Guild Vendor in House K.

If you want to change the effects on this item, you will have to disjunct it which will in return erase the Blindness Immunity and Secret Door Detection, at this point you could then apply your STAT +6 item you were referencing earlier.

    Hope this helps.
