Default Starter fighter, TWF or 2 Hander?

In general which is better for levelling? Considering a basic fighter spec (probably Helf). Please add any other information that you think would help a newbie fighter.

I've read a little and searched around but alot of the info is dated or for specific builds. Thanks!

Two-handers work better if you aren't able to hand down twink items. TWF has to-hit issues that are quite bad without a Planar Gird and/or other expensive twink gear.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

What are the more common 2 hand weapon types that you guys would recommend using....basically which are easier to obtain at lower levels or would be easier BTA ones that I might be able to add some enhancements to.

I would say THF easily has the advantage at least till mid to high level.
simply because it's less feats to get fully working actually you don't need any feats lol while twf barely works with the simple twf and to get better twf feats you don't get them till later.
I always level my toons with a Two handed weapon at low level for just about any class.
when I'm rogue it's thf till about 7-8 if i'm a bard thf if i'm a fighter, barb, paly or even building an AA ranger I still use THF at low level my AA ranger didnt' even touch a bow till about level 6 and then only as a secondary weapon even though all my feats went into bow a +4 great sword still did more dps then any bow lol and twf is just gimp at low level miss too much. so THF will get my vote every time at least till about level 8 if you plan to switch to TWF then I'd wait till you have better base attack and maybe even greater twf feat.
even a rogue I will take a feat like great sword or great axe and just use it till they are better at twf and then swap the feat out with fred.

if you plan to be a shield tank then i'd still use thf till at least level 6-8 when ever you get stalwart I
and even after only switch to shield when things get rough.
just my opinion though play which ever style is more fun to you.

For a newcomer I usually recommend THF over TWF: it's less MAD (i.e., don't care about DEX), has higher to-hit, and you only need half as many weapons.

It helps if you list your build resources & goals; that makes it easier to recommend a build.

oh also wanted to add noticed you put you are or may go h-elf in which case I highly recomend putting 13? or 14 points in chr so you can take FVS as your dilitent so you can use heal wands it makes things so much easier and cheaper then pots. the reason for chr over wis for cleric is because you can use chr for your intimidate as well though if you don't plan to use intim then wis is fine I have a h-elf fighter and started with 14 chr for bonus to intimidate then took the force of personality feat to use chr for my will save. at any rate it's just a nice bonus that I think helps a lot with a h-elf fighter. if you are not focused on intim though save the feat and do wisdom 14 for will save and cleric dililtent for h-elf it really does help a lot.
