Lightbulb what happened to the fun called PUG

OK i'm so dissapointed of what happening now on thelanis.. before you can pick up a group doing normal, hard or elite.. nobody is missing out on anything.. then came this BB streak, o yeah i'm still good.. but clock is ticking lfm all looking for elite opener, don't bother to join if you can;t keep up,, BB on streak.. say what.. 6 out 7 lfm within lvl are all saying this.. ok i join one group, "hey man can you open elite, err no..i'm hoping you could" after 15 min. of waiting u are now the party leader with 2 party member, ok still good.. after 10 sec. now ur the only one.. oh man! not again.. and now with all the content coming all people doing this elite streak, hoping after 2 to 3 days they are level 8, then starts whining i wanna get stoned..
Fun is Gone... its frustrating, i hope they can restrict this BB on the TR's, not the normal guys.. i need to talk to someone, not a hierling that most often than not, is like a ******.. running around, standing to one place even though ogres already raping her.. now with the greater/lesser tomes of learning do we really need this BB streak.. hopefully they restrict this one to TR..

Heh, interesting... All the vets who normally TR are playing level 21-25 content...

So all the level 6 new people are standing around waiting for an elite opener?

Run it on hard or normal then. A hard streak on a first-life player still gives you plenty of exp.

You don't need an elite streak to advance quickly as a first-life character (or even single TR character). The elite streak is intended for 2+ TR characters who need twice as much exp as a first life character.

Just the fact that BB is there limits people a lot. Imo it's better to remove bravery altogether and increase base quest xp by 10-20%. Then you aren't forced to run elite first.

This is the fallacy that should be brought out and discussed.

Elite isn't necessary in any way, shape, or form.
It is entirely optional. Entirely. You can play, level, cap, epic, get gear, and do anything in the game without ever entering a single quest on elite.

I would like to point out that while the posters here might be correct, the OP seems to indicate he doesn't mind to do quests on lower difficulty levels, but that he can't find anyone to run quests with him, because the offering in the LFM panel is only for elite quests without the elite opener.

To the OP: perhaps - but you might have tried - you could start your own parties and put up a LFM for normal quests? There are probably more players who think like you.

It is optional, but in practice hardly anyone regards it as optional. People want to run elite first for that streak bonus, even though it is unnecessary. I find it really annoying to lose the XP bonus in the future when I play one time on normal. It would be better if BB didn't exist, so we can play the game in the order we want without being held back by a loss of future XP.

    Here's the thing, though..

On my first life Artificer, I found that running a Hard Streak isn't nearly as gratifying, but the numbers add up fast and I was bypassing large potions of content as I leveled faster than I could play them.

I also found that putting up hard pugs ended up filling pretty quickly as I put a "IP, byoh" and just got started right away without waiting around. There were lots of people trying to do quests without the elite stigma, but for some reason just never thought to put up their own LFM, or didn't want to.

(Granted, this is based off my own personal experiences, which do not necessarily reflect the majority. These are based off of the Thelanis server, playing at typically the same times and days. Maybe I'm in the minority and don't even know it!)

    Two points on this:
    1. Elite gives more favor, and favor rewards are often substantial. Running on less than Elite means dooming future me into running it again, rather than one-and-done.

    2. If you give humans a scoring/rating system, they will attempt to maximize their score, even with no further incentive. This phenomenon has even spilled back into the real world as Gamification. Since running less than Elite screws your score now and in the next five quests, many people refuse to do it, even preferring to run nothing at all.

Here is my solution to your problem. Completely ignore BB and everyone who "needs" to maintane streaks. I run what I can based on my abilities. I would never imagine running most quests on Elite at level. I am never in a rush to hit cap. I enjoy quests for what they are. A place to have fun. BB be dambed.

So subscribe to VIP and open any difficulty you want. Hoping to ride off someone else's elite opening status means you wait.

Yes, please force everyone to play the way I want them to play. Because I can't be bothered to put up an LFM for what I want to do. Make everyone else play the stuff I want them to play at the difficulty I want them to do.

Here's the thing, Talakitok... no one makes people run quests on elite. No one makes you run quests on elite. If you join a party, you are at the mercy of that party leader's desire to run elite and mooch off of someone who has paid/put in the time to be able to run elite.

Don't like it? Make your own LFMs.

No one joins your LFM? Maybe because other people enjoy running on elite. If your "fun" depends on other people to put it together for you and lead the way you want to lead, you are going to continue to be disappointed.

I tire of people complaining about the leet streak and not being able to group...ever hear of making some friends? Make some then run with them and stop relying on other people to get everything done for you...

I have found no need to run elite at level for streak at all...

I ran hard, never waited for anyone...either jumped in quest running hard or elite... or just solo hard with hireling.

Plenty of exp... far more wasted trying to get these "special" groups running and started...

    ***

On another note, I have occasionally jumped into an elite group which was amazing and great exp fast!! -- But just as often jumped in...waited...waited... .... .... waited... and then group collapses or fails badly... so I wonder often, unless you have the resources and friends to do the runs with...if elite is actually slower than hard?

    ***

Last - before you completely out level the content, like 4 levels over? Elites that you have not done yet are great fillers when you can get a group. Your familiar with the quest now, your stronger and can solo it... you still get first time xp bonus and greater tome bonus!

The Bravery Bonus system was a great addition to DDO. It adds some much needed intrigue to experience farming and rewards risk taking, both big positives. Problems arise when people let the experience bonuses blind them to all other considerations. They want to level quickly but then they:

    1. sit around waiting for an opener
    2. /sleep waiting for a dedicated healer
    3. /lfh and /afk waiting for optimal party compositions
    4. wipe because no one knew the quest

which equals a lot of wasted time and probably not much fun for anyone. If party leaders paused to think of the party's strengths and limitations and weigh the bonus experience against having to wait for a healer/crowd control/opener/traps/whatever, there would be fewer posts such as the OP. No one needs an elite streak but it seems like too many feel obligated to maintain one when they aren't up to the additional challenge.

I'm concerned these constant complaints about how the Bravery Bonus ruined DDO will cause Turbine to nerf a feature that gives those who know what they're doing incentive to run higher difficulties at level. It keeps the TR grind and experience farming in general interesting.

So to those ranting about BB, the system is fine - it's the people that need fixing.

The problem isn't the bravery bonus, it's the minority of players that are so ignorant of XP mechanics that they believe breaking a streak is hurting their overall XP, and so arrogant that they refuse to run quests below elite.

Breaking an elite streak and maintaining a hard one costs you about 7000 XP in reduced future XP payouts at high level (25/25/25/20/10% of base XP on your next 5 quests if you do them all on elite, most quests are <7000 base XP). Doing a Hard run of a quest might take 5 minutes and pay 15k XP.

The people that won't ever break streak are as stupid as the people that join a 20 minute quest they had no intention of running when it is 1 minute before completion, then recall out 'because of the -80%'.

And as for facts - I post LFMs often for sub-elite difficulties and people join them. They fill faster than LFMs for notoriously difficult elite quests like Power Play or Bastion of Power.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

i'm a subscriber before, i did my dues.. but already bought all the packs there is, even bought collectors edition for the new expansion.. so subscription ended, I mean not all people who played this game on a VIP status.. if it so then they should not release it as F2P in first place.. its a frustration blog, my concern or shall we say my point is the 'Bravery Bonus"should be restricted to TR as they were intended to do.. why do you think the Devs brought that BB idea on the first place, coz of the frustration of the TR 3rd lifer same as what i post.. Man get chill, no one makin u read this, it's for the people who has same frustration as i am, and maybe, just maybe Devs will take notice and do some brainstorming to evaluate things, not necessarily they will totally abandone the idea but i know they will think of something.. The point is i put also LFM but grouping is hard now AS COMPARE BEFORE without BB, i don't expect you to admit it.. but for most of us non-VIP does.. anyway all good, i was frustrated during that time.. now back to playing, hope to see you at the game, after all we are all family in Thelanis right..

just saying.. to the one who say's he hates people complaining all the time about this idea of having LFM.. man can you really say that, while complaining that you hate people that are complaining.. then you are no different still a complainer,, anyway peace bro, hope all is good.. i love Thelanis, never played in any server, except on my first week of doing DDO.. thanks for the replies all, its my first post.. nice community out here! =)

It never was intended for TR's only.

Again, your post says "make people play with me the way I want to play- take away their bonuses so they can run hard or normal with me."

Nothing stops you from playing hard or normal. Just put up a group and go. Insisting that other people should stop running elite and put up hard and normal LFM's because that is what you would rather run is a little much, don't you think?

Sorry if it seems harsh, because I don't mean it to be... I really am trying to make a point. You can run hard and normal any time. You don't have to restrict other people's fun to do it.
