Monk splashed Paladins

I am profoundly confused what to do with my 18 paladin/2 monk. He is currently a KotC with Khopeshes, Maximize and Quicken, but that's not set in stone. He is generally able to fill a tanking role, thanks to a good heal amp, Divine Righteousness and some other incite gear. Unyielding Sentinel is the destiny which sounds most interesting for now, but Grandmaster of Flowers isnt that far away, and also worth a try.

As I see it, there are essentially two viable ways one can go, equipment-wise, if I want to play him as a toon who can fill a tanking role, for now*.

Handwraps, Cloth, and a decent Dodge stat granted by the two monk levels or
Khopeshs (or Khopesh + Shield), a Light Armor (eMarilth Chain, for example), and a higher AC and PRR, but a lower dodge rating.

Has anyone thought along similar lines already, and come to some conclusion? Is 18/2 a bad idea now? I guess there are also some players who have a monk splashed fighter, and who are faced with similar challenges. Your opinion is also appreciated.

*It's still to see if the enhancement revamp will allow a Human Paladin to become a kensai and thus, allowing Khopesh as a Ki weapon.

even if it allows a human to be a kensai a khopesh should throw monks out of stance and therefore it wouldnt be a KI weapon

Between getting 2 feats in epic levels, the enormous increase in armor-based AC, and PRR, it's hard to justify an 18 paladin / 2 monk anymore. Having excellent saves means you don't lose that much by losing Evasion, and the defensive impact of heavy armor is just astonishing. Plus you get the capstone, which is nice. Before u14 I would never make a paladin without 2 monk, now I'm not sure I ever would.
