    Question Druidnaught - Discuss

    Hi,

My first life level 20 monk has been due to TR for a while and I have been thinking of going into a Druid melee build.
When I looked at it I was thinking I wanted to try a fairly deep spash of something and Monk seems too obvious and maybe a bit squishy.

I think I have settled on building a Druidnaught

Yes as odd as it may seem I am thinking a Druid 14/Fighter6 that then takes the Legendary Dreadnaught destiny and fights a fair portion in animal form.

My main concern is feats, I want a whole pile of them to various degrees:

    • Shield Mastery - Doublestrike
    • Improved Shield Mastery - More Doublestrike
    • Natural Fighting x3 - Yay Doublestrike
    • Power Attack
    • Weapon Focus - Kensai
    • Weapon Specialization - Kensai
    • Past Life: Disciple of the Fist
    • Improved Critical
    • Cleave
    • Improved Sunder
    • Combat Expertise
    • Precision
    • Toughness

And I haven't even looked at Epic feats that closely yet as I am mostly planning this to get back to 20.

It would be nice to get Half-Orc for the power attack enhancements and the 2 extra str, but that leaves me a full feat short of human.
Half-elf to grab a dillente puts me in the same place.

I count 7 heroic feats, 4 fighter feats, 2 epic and maybe 1 human for a max of 14 feats.
I have 15 feats listed already plus epic feats maybe, so what should go?
What would you drop or change about the feats?

Also what do you like or dislike about this idea?
And of course any other generic advice or concerns about the build idea would be appreciated too.

    Thanks for reading,
    - Sam

First off, if you're going DPS type, drop Combat expertise out. Since you're going with LD for you destiny, forget precision, you're going to want to be in PA all the time for momentum swing and lay waste. I'd suggest squeezing Great Cleave in there so you can take the epic feat Overwhelming Critical. If you still have more feats than you can take, I'd put Imp. Sunder and/or the Past Life feat on the chopping block. While nice to have, I wouldn't call them critical.

I'm going to be doing a similar build but built to be a bear tank with stalwart instead of kensai. Going Unyielding Sentinel with LD momentum swing/lay waste twisted in.
Khyber: Runforr 13/6/1 Rog/Ftr/Mnk, Bakup 3/3/1 Mnk/Pal/Rog (TR Pal), Faylah 14 Mnk (TR Mnk), Janthyra 12/7/1 Brb/Rog/Ftr, Ainbthech 20 Sor, Fliethas 18/2 Fvs/Mnk, Unfilled 12/6/2 Mnk/Rgr/Ftr, Arcanemark 10 Wiz "Don't eat us dragon! Thanks, these are all good points, as much as I like the look of Precision situationally I concur it is probably the least useful. And Combat Expertise was only on the list at all because it is a prereq for Tactical Genius, although I may be able to live without it.

Since the OP I was playing around a bit with feat selection.
I guess as a human that would take me to this (order potential to change, based upon 9 Druid, then 6 Fighter then finish Druid):
    • Level 1 - Power Attack (Heroic)
    • Level 1 - Toughness (Human)
    • Level 3 - Cleave (Heroic)
    • Level 6 - Weapon Focus (Heroic)
    • Level 9 - Natural Fighting 1 (Heroic)
    • Level 10 - Shield Mastery (Ftr)
    • Level 11 - Improved Shield Mastery (Ftr)
    • Level 12 - Natural Fighting 2 (Heroic)
    • Level 13 - Weapon Specialization (Ftr)
    • Level 15 - Natural Fighting 3 (Heroic)
    • Level 15 - Improved Critical (Ftr)
    • Level 18 - Great Cleave (Heroic)
    • Level 21 - Improved Sunder (Epic)
    • Level 24 - Overwhelming Critical (Epic)

The powerattack enhancements of the Half Orc look real tempting but I am not sure if I want to cut any of this for it.
As a second life only not sure if I want to drop toughness, but maybe.
