Tips for getting commendations faster

So what is it??? I have now run around the kings forest for close to 10 hours and I have 3 commendations, only one of which I care about. Since I want the whole purple dragon set, I figure it will take me.... around 300 hours of running around an explorer zone. That is a ridiculous length of time and I will be maxed out on my epic destiny and at level 25 long before I can get the loot I'm looking for.

So what am I doing wrong? There has got to be a better way to get commendations.

Do the random encounters always spawn in the same places? So I could run a normal route through the forest to check for them?

Random encounters actually are the worst way to get commendations. I'm not entirely sure about this, they also drop from chests in quests, I'd guess the type dropping would be according to the patron associated with the quest.

For purple dragon knight, I'd try farming the battle for eveningstar as an example, there probably are others as well, I just don't know yet which exactly. One objective there always has a chest connected to it, you can jump out and reset it after that. You'll probably have to ransack the chest multiple times before you get anything, but the total time taken to get a full set should be way lower then what it would take to get them from just explorers.

Quests commendations are not based on patron. I ran the war wizard series and got all sorts.

Go to the entrance from eveningstar and run around the top area until you reach the west shrine. Shrine and finish out. Usually at least one or two rares will pop up. Reset and come back in. But it is very random which you get btw.

Random recommendations drop in endchests of the quest. The chaine ndreward gives you a choice of one out of each recommendation.

Do the chain once for exp then farm on casual for endreward maybe?

run quests with 6 people and you will see them drop a lot

There is an easy way to farm specifically the Purple Dragon Knight commends from the Forest, enter and head to the Millers quest, on the way there is the or maybe only one spawnpoint of the poisoned PDK, he needs water from well at graveyard quest. He rewards with 3 PDK commends.

Basically enter, check if hes there if not recall. If hes there get water heal him up and repeat.

So far the only 2 commendations that I have trouble finding are Druid and War Wizard. The other 3 drop in the Kings Forest quests which are loads of fun and payout nice amounts of XP at the same time.

Which one is the Millers quest? Where is that one? Good advice, thanks. Just want more details!

Millers Quest is basically just heading straight west from entrance, if u head south from that quest staying on west map border u will get to the graveyard quest.

Basically what I am hearing is: Run the quests a lot... don't spend too much time in the King's Forest unless you can develop a decent farming/run through mechanism for finding specific random encounters.

It seems that the random encounters have set locations (perhaps many spots for some of the random encounters, but maybe only 1 for other random encounters).

In addition, particular random encounters give the same commendation every time.

Finally, you get commendations for finishing the quest chain.

P.S. Do you get automatic named loot for running the chain three times?

Like everthing else...you get a chance. First time I got nothing but commendations. Next time Drow Smoke Goggles and Comms. all my friends got 3-4 named items each time, which tells you something about my luck.

I won't have my 3rd completion of the chain until tonight. Now I am curious what the list will look like. So far both end reward lists had at least 1 named and the full list of commendations.

Theres 2 of em random. 1 is in a marsh a little bit outta the way from the way to get to unquiet graves. The other is a random purple dragon knight initiative over by the underdark area. Hes up a hill and he wants you to help him kill a dragon so he can join the PDK.

sorry about your luck but that appears to be the going rate for the commendations you need i got about 9 hours doing quests and forest and I have yet to receive a wizard commendation i got like 6 PDK and stuff but its BTC so worthless!

Indeed. As has been suggested in various other places, there should at least be some manner of a turn in system to get the commedations you want. Something like a 3:1 or 4:1 trade in ratio. Or make them bound to account.

as this has been suggested other places i would be happy with a 3-1 myself

They want you to trade in the ones you dont want for things like lasting haste potions and hearty apple cider.

Haven't had the pleasure of finding the green dragon random encounter in the forest yet, but there is definitely one in a quest.

Also, at least with the first chain, on Impossible Demands if you get the optional chest I know it drops commendations (got a villager the first time I did it). There are also some opts in The Battle for Eveningstar that drop them as well.

Haven't ran the other chains yet.

P.S. I would be happy with a trade in system too if not going BtA.
