    Default Pets: How to Double Your Sales Turbine.

    So, I've moved on from the hubub of moTU (a good first expansion BTW) and went onto all the DDO store items. Stumbled upon pets and bought a rat. First of all, they are nice but purely cosmetic...this is a problem imho and Turbine is severly limiting themselves by doing this.

    Pets in other games have the dual function of being able to carry stuff (an extra few backpacks, depending upon the size of the pet) and help out in other minor ways. Although, pets are critical and are a huge component of other extremely popular MMOs with craft and war in it's name. I can understand Turbine's reasoning for not allowing pets to perform combat.

    However, my suggestion is perhaps you can teach your pet a trick to say...pull a lever.. or retrieve an item.. or give an item it's carrying to someone else. I think this would add quite a bit to the pet experience rather then the useless appearence only pets we have now.

    I have to disagree.

    The bandwidth needed for that can be utilized much better elsewhere.

    Teaching them to be invisible in public would be a good start...

    I like the idea of having pets for personal mules. Imagine a Kobold shaman lugging all your shiny loot on his back, squeaking "Really? Really??" every time you pile more treasure on him.
    Sarlona: Facerollnuds(23Sor) - Bonknuds(17Clr/3Mnk) - Rushnuds(20FvS) - Tasteslike(20Sor)
    Squishynuds(13Wiz) - and 100 other mules/gimps :P

    I believe the point was that he doesn't like seeing other people's pets... so good luck with your suggestion there. Report back when you've successfully unsummoned the pets of 5 other people.

    Please don't add any further motive for buying these. They work fine as cosmetics, lots of people seem to like them. To increase their utility will;
    • increase the number I see (clutter, clutter, clutter),
    • decrease the relative value of pet classes, and
    • annoy me.

    I like lists. They make me sound more plausible.
