    Post New base armors

Just trying to get the new information gathered..

So far, I've found the six base armors, and three improved tiers for each one. I haven't yet seen any with guild augment slots, or made of special materials. If anyone gets more information or finds errors in this then please share Someone with more experience with WF characters can perhaps chime in on Docents.

The format here gives the base armor type in the top row of each block, in caps; the following three rows are each of the improved tiers of that armor type. So, you will see 'Battle Plate', Skirmish Chainmail', et cetera, in game. ASL is Arcane Spell Failure and AML is Absolute Minimum Level, the minlevel of the item without regard for the enchantments on it.

    Code:
FULL PLATE	Armor +8, Max Dex 1, Armor Check -5, ASL 35%
Battle Armor +12, Max Dex 1, Armor Check -5, ASL 35%, AML 6
Magecraft	Armor +16, Max Dex 1, Armor Check -5, ASL 35%, AML 10
Mountain Armor +20, Max Dex 1, Armor Check -5, ASL 35%, AML 16

HALF PLATE	Armor +7, Max Dex 0, Armor Check -4, ASL 30%
Battle Armor +10, Max Dex 3, Armor Check -4, ASL 30%, AML 4
Magecraft	Armor +13, Max Dex 4, Armor Check -4, ASL 30%, AML 10
Mountain Armor +17, Max Dex 5, Armor Check -4, ASL 30%, AML 16

BREASTPLATE	Armor +6, Max Dex 3, Armor Check -3, ASL 25%
Battle Armor +8, Max Dex 4, Armor Check -3, ASL 25%, AML 4
Magecraft	Armor +11, Max Dex 5, Armor Check -3, ASL 25%, AML 10
Mountain Armor +14, Max Dex 6, Armor Check -3, ASL 25%, AML 16

SCALEMAIL	Armor +4, Max Dex 3, Armor Check -3, ASL 25%
Skirmish Armor +6, Max Dex 6, Armor Check -2, ASL 20%, AML 4
Feycraft Armor +8, Max Dex 8, Armor Check -2, ASL 20%, AML 10
Spiritcraft	Armor +11, Max Dex 10, Armor Check -2, ASL 20%, AML 16

CHAINMAIL	Armor +4, Max Dex 5, Armor Check -1, ASL 15%
Skirmish Armor +5, Max Dex 7, Armor Check -1, ASL 15%, AML 4
Feycraft Armor +7, Max Dex 9, Armor Check -1, ASL 15%, AML 10
Spiritcraft	Armor +9, Max Dex 11, Armor Check -1, ASL 15%, AML 16

LEATHER Armor +3, Max Dex 6, ASL 10%
Skirmish Armor +4, Max Dex 8, ASL 10%, AML 4
Feycraft Armor +5, Max Dex 11, ASL 10%, AML 10
Spiritcraft	Armor +7, Max Dex 14, ASL 10%, AML 16

Thanks for this. I've been intentionally avoiding all the beta coverage and the new content since launch. Some questions:

    1. I'm assuming there has been a complete overhaul of the armor classifications and all new/existing pieces now fall into these categories?

    2. What does this system NOT address? Docents and robes only?

    3. Is this system (in your opinion) a buff? A nerf? Or just a new, clearer syntax from what we had pre-MotU?

    1. Yep.

    2. As far as I know, yes.

    3. Bit from column A, bit from Column B. For druids, the brand new class released with this patch, this is actually something of a nerf as they go from three classes of loot armor allowed (Robes/Outfits, Leather, Hide) to two, (Robes/Outfits, Leather) and a fairly common material for metal armors (Darkleaf) that would allow them to expand their repertoire is suspiciously absent from my loot since the expansion. Might still be there, but I certainly haven't seen it ^_^

For everyone else, its a buff. Base armor types scale with your character now, allowing you to get better stuff at higher levels, rather than a range of armor that got locked in at level 2 and some anomalous devices.

Thanks for this. +1s for both you and the OP

there are different level docents as well.. quoriforged being best , cant remember the others now
and robes can come with + to armor ac too (and often do) so that helps robe wearers.

So druids really are shafted already? They were just introduced, and the most prevalent type of armor used for druids in PnP is not available. Which means their Medium Armor proficiency is completely wasted? Or did they remove that as well?

They still receive Medium Armor proficiency.

At high levels there is one source of guaranteed Darkwood armor, and Gianthold has Dragonscale armor...

But yeah, the armor situation for Druids is Leather or Robes for the vast majority of the game, since Dragonscale armor isn't exactly top-tier anymore. (Certainly not bad, though)

    You sure about those numbers?

I *think* I have a feycraft scale mail and it is +11 armor, +8 max dex.

He doesn't explicitly say it, but I'm pretty sure the numbers he lists are for deconned armor (i.e. no enchancements or other properties).

If the armor you have is just a plain +3 Feycraft Scale Mail, that would explain your numbers.

I have yet to see different material types (Mithral, Darkleaf, Adamantium etc) on any "new-style" armor since the update

    OLD LOOT still CURRENT:
Parasitic breastplate seems to be the best "light" armor with Epic Rakshasa hide being avail for druids.

Full plate of the defender is the best "Medium" armor i have found, Epic Cavalry plate woks well too.

Dragontouched and Dragonscale armors seem to be Adjusted as well (Black is awesome for melee types)

Don't think it is possible, the new types (mountain, feycraft, etc) are materials (same as mithral, darkleaf, etc). Check the material type in the inspect window.

Armor PRR is based off the type
*Warning* Mithral etc materials that lower the type category ALSO lower the PRR category

I don't think those numbers are entirely correct. I bought a disjuncted magecraft breastplate off the AH and I'm pretty sure its ASF is 20% and AML is 10. Yes actually I'm quite sure of those numbers.

If hide has vanished... anyone know if feycraft is considered metal? Perhaps druids can wear that? If the "fey" have created it... it sounds pretty "druish" Otherwise that's pretty terrible. Best hang onto your darkwood breastplates folks! They'll fetch a fierce price in a few months!

Mithral I can do without, the new higher level light/medium armors are just fine (that magecraft breastplate outdid my trusty mithral full plate I've been wearing for a very long time), but the absence of adamantium is a real shame. That material type is one of the very few ways to get universal damage resistance. Its absence as a material type would be very unfortunate indeed, especially considering DR is much more important now given the diminishing returns of the new AC system will result in being hit more.

Perhaps it is a bug and they haven't resolved how to... resolve... it with the new higher level armors?

Turbine, give us special armor materials back!

It freshes up the lootdrops you get and brings nice variance.
Erzskalde (Warchanter) / Erzassassin (just passing through - ignore me) / Erzsoldat (waiting for TR-time) / Erzschmied (ranged Artificer)

Don't the new materials do this even more?

Nah, the new materials are simply what you swap into at the apropriate level: the only right material is the current material for your level range for that armour type.

It's slightly bewildering that they've chosen to do this at the precise moment that darkwood and other old special woods would have come into their own, at last!

But each material has its own max DEX bonus (which affects AC and dodge) as well as spell-related limits. It seems to me, this greatly increases the range of the utility of armors of various materials.
