    Default DDO PvP Needs Nerfed.

The amount of aggro PVP draws is obsenely OP. I think you need to have some major threat reducing and some
serious hate reduction going on at the pit. These fellers are a bunch of ragers! LOL.

    /sarcasm off.

This is in reference to recieving very many angry tells about how my build is OP and how killing a healer that can fly away is too hard and that favoured souls should be nerfed. lol.

I stepped in the pit for all of 10 minutes, and already you are raging over the fact that FVS are OP! LOL. Honestly dude, get a grip. Its PVP. It doesnt really matter, was just a way for me to kill time.

PVP doesnt occur in the pits. It occurs in the general chat channel after someone who takes it too seriously and thought THEY were the ones with the powerbuild, loses to someone who is just in there killing some time while their friends free up so they can run PVE content. This was, is, and will be, the single biggest turn off for people as far as gaining support for PVP in DDO.

nah, the biggest turn off for PvP is that 20+ sorc who sits under the platform in the lobster pit and one shots anyone and everyone who jumps in.

the point of pvp is there is no rules anyone can kill anyone... there is nothing stopping that sorc who is killing everyone he is the one who has spent all that time making his charecter soo powerful. if you go into the pit you have to know and accept anyone can attack and possibly kill you! in my opinion nobody actually uses pvp as they do in other pvp oriented games u dont gain or lose anything from killing or death. pvp is for people to either test new gear and spells on others, i use it to chat and make freinds, or u can use it to let of some steam after some noob ruined your shroud run or something. a lot of that made no sence but i hope i got my point across.

But as I pointed out, the hilarity ensues when that sorc who thought they were on top of every PVP circumstance all of a sudden gets pwned repeatedly, by someone who takes PVP far less seriously than they do. When the sorc in this example min maxed everything for PVP including gear and build, then the FvS who is maxed out for PVE jumps in and the sorc cant beat them, thats when the sorc starts shouting insults in general chat etc about use of cheap tactics and such, when they were the one sitting under the balcony sniping people the entire time. The formula is as follows:

Sorc won = they tell you your build sux and youre a noob.
Sorc lost = they tell you that you obviously have no life if you built entirely for PVP and you must suck at PVE. (it gets more hilarious when they see youre a PVE build, are only here to kill time, and can roflpwn their PVP build easily due to mobility + ticking damage)

Conclusion, as the OP pointed out - some people take PVP too seriously.

When I jump into the pit, I think its hilarious if someone can lightning bolt my toon for 3k damage. It reinforces the severe lack of balance that would be required to actually have a game somewhat focused on PVP.

Dipped my toe in the PvP world on my shiradi evocation archmage at the weekend, trying out a couple of abilities.. was funny the amount of people who were "omg what was that!?" when they got hit by a boulder toss that splattered them for 4k+ when they'd expected to be hit with a meteor swarm they'd have had a good chance of evading..
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

A couple weeks ago I was irritating some melees because I was wearing a blasting chime (if you don't know, it has a guard that does ~300 sonic damage with a 20% proc rate, I can kill monks and twf and stuff while afk)

Gotta get me one of those.

I've been having a lot of fun in PvP on my cleric lately. He's got pretty decent AC and PRR, and has Radiance Guard (light damage and blindness), disintegration guard, poison guard, and air guard (self haste and enemy knockdown). Pretty soon I'll have incineration guard too! And now I've got to work on that sonic guard :P

Also, both in PvP and PvE end game, elemental absorption is a MUST. Fire shield, greensteel absorption items, cannith crafted absorption, you need to have something to mitigate that epic elite elemental damage.

Anyone know how that stuff stacks, by the way? For instance, my cold absorb is 30% from destiny, 10, 15 and 20% from greensteel, and 50% from fire shield. What's my total?

If PvP could exist without the trash talking and drama, I'd be all for putting more effort into it simply for the sake of bringing on more players.

I just don't understand why people get so Epeen waving happy over PvP in DDO.
It's not like dying makes you lose anything!

Why wouldn't you EXPECT to be pwned eventually in a PvP pit?

I know it's evil, but I just love jumping into the Lobster PVP pit on a 20+ caster and hitting one person with a Niac's and another with an Eladar's, then quickly jumping out. 20+'s survive, lowbies do not stand a chance.

Tavern PVP is just for griefing anyway. The game's real PVP is 'saboteur' raiding.

Before turbine killed the stone to flesh duration on players, I used to enjoy jumping into the pits, dropping FtS on someone, and then jumping out...and then watching to see how long before someone took pity on the statue.
