Default Spell Power--Why not listed on spells/character sheet

    Hi Folks,

Given the massive change Spell Power is making to the game, I wondered if there is a way in game of seeing what your effective spell power for a spell is. Is it listed somewhere and I am not seeing it or is it yet another item that we just have to calculate ourselves and hope it's accurate?

I know one thing I do appreciate when you have a spell on a bar and have specific meta's on or if they are set for Always on/off you get a list on the Spell Points of what it effectively cost with the base value in the tool tip spell description. This is where to check the DCs of things as well so I wondered why it's not listing what the effective Spell Power is as well.

After all it appears we are going to end up being the masters of weapon set switches to really maximize things after the 3 minute clickie nerf.

Also is there anywhere you can see your effective Spell Penetration or is it just something to calculate?

I wonder if any of the Dev's thought of this one, perhaps it came up on their radar and it's just not easily doable or is it something that hasn't been mentioned yet.

I've not seen it anywhere... I'd guess we have to calculate it ourselvs.

The same with Spell pen, although it should be visible when you roll for it... my problem here is that I cannot see my dice in the new UI any longer. Maybe it's in the combat log?
Still Spell pen is the same as always... caster lvl + enhancements + feats + equipment + wizard/FVS past lives.

this would be a good idea. Until I can understand the formulas, I probably won't be playing any of my casters. So I guess my arti will be TRing back to arti instead of sorc as was planned! I was wavering as it is, so on one level Turbine have done me a favour by helping me make that decision.

Formula is 1:1. 1 spellpower is 1% damage. And all spellpower boosts are now additive. Base Damage * (Enhancements + Items + Metamagics).

If you gear correctly you really don't have to switch weapons much. Use the Mindfury Symbiont, and if you really want the Eardweller, to give you a decent boost for boss battles (or really constantly if you want to bother, Mindfury is 9 minutes/rest of +15 alchemical universal).

You can swap weapons if you want, but it's a lot of effort for very little gain.

That said, this was something Eladrin (I believe it was) seemed interested in adding to the UI at some point. They know the character sheet needs a pretty massive overhaul and so it seems to be on the list, I just doubt it takes priority over a whole lot of other things they need and want to do.

That's certainly simple enough - but there's a thread somewhere showing that equipment and enhancements are giving 0.5:1 and only feats are giving 1:1 - the question is (along with the effects of THF, TWF and Shield lines vs Natural fighting for shifted forms), what is the situation supposed to be, vs what it is?

I know they're going to be working on all this stuff - it's just frustrating that it wasn't ready in time for the launch.

/Signed for a spot on the character sheet to show spellpower.

Beta testers clamored for it. Lama testers clamored for it. Now live folks can join in the movement too!

    Please, Turbine.
Show us spellpower on the character sheet.
Right under the spells maybe? There's lots of room right below where those 9th level spell slots sit. See? It's practically begging for little boxes and numbers. Please?

Like Demon said, it's not really that complicated. But I can see how it would be helpful to just see it at a glance.

Why is this here and not in the Suggestions forum?

/signed by the way. A lot of information should be added that isn't. Though I think the plan was to do so come the enhancement reset, sometime after the sun turns into a small chunk of coal. Bring a sweater, it might get a bit nippy.

The big difference between to-hit and spellpower, is that spellpower has different iterations:

    • Fire

    • Electric

    • Water

    • Acid

    • Force/Untyped

    • Repair

    • Healing/positive

    • Light

    • Good (or alignment? Is there a way to boost lawful/chaotic damage?)

    • Negative

    • Universal

    Did I miss any?

So, doing this, spellpower would practically need its own tab. HOWEVER, I would actually LOVE a tab that just listed all the various complicated totals of random status - Like various spellpowers, Spell Resistence, Perhaps total situational bonuses like saves vs. enchantments, save versus poison/disease, saves versus traps.

OR, alternately, it'd be nice to see total spellpower and/or *modified* damage output of spells on the rollover tooltip, in the same way we can see the modified spellpoint cost and DCs.

They could do a drop down for things like Spell Power or saves with multiple bonuses. There's really not much I'd need to see at a glance, but this stuff should be on the character sheet.

Yes. We agree. This needs to be on the character sheet.

It'd be nice to see it per type as well rather than just universal. Can you increase the resistance types at the
bottom of the character sheet (e.g. add resistance to force/untyped, light etc.) and overload the functionality to
also show spellpower in those categories as well as resistances.

Nice, I really do think the changes to potentcy IE: Spell power are a reasonable move, allowing for more incremental steps. Still a bit borky,.. But hey it happens....

So this is going to eventually be on your character sheet. Would it be at all possible to have it calcualte and be in the spell discription on your hotbar?Like spell point cost is? Or would that be a significant lag causing situation?

Glad to hear you say it. Please consider doing it for each damage type, just as you do with resists.

So can we look forward to a new improved not-six-year-old character sheet in U15? Numerous threads on the forums describing what is needed.

Also the critical chance/damage bonus on spells please.
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.

I would generally agree with this, especially if there was a mouse over that told you "+X % fire damage" like the "evasion chance at level" thing over AC.

But, I'd really rather the +damage information under the equipped weapon at the bottom of the inventory page got fixed first!

Both. The x*[W] that is missing is problematic especially when drinking.
