    Default About Renewal.

    I've got a question about Renewal.

    I suppose you can't use empower/maximize/emp. healing feats on this ED power, neither positive spell power enhancements (and other ED powers that improves positive spells), items and so, but at least healing amplification should work with this, right?

    I think at least emp. healing and positive spell power should work on it (just like RS II aura)... because it would make sense I guess.

    And healing amplification works on every pos. energy spell, so I see no reason why it wouldn't with this one.

    Don't really have first hand experience with it as I am taking a break till some of the bugs and issues get sorted out, so if anyone knows for sure, pitch in.

    Default All its cracked up to be....?

    20 fvs, 4 epic, total renewal possible, I will note I have life magic 4(+80 spellpower) and Healing power 3(+30). As well as 1.3(PDK gloves)*1.05(Pally past life)*1.03(Purity of essence 1) for1.40595(expected)healing amp. All in all however, the numbers are about what I'd expect with regard to variance, if..

    Insanely low total numbers all things considered..

    Nothing on :
    (Combat): You heal 105 points of damage from Renew. (Crit)
    (Combat): You heal 49 points of damage from Renew.
    (Combat): You heal 59 points of damage from Renew.

    With devotion(+90) item:
    (Combat): You heal 71 points of damage from Renew.
    (Combat): You heal 63 points of damage from Renew.
    (Combat): You heal 80 points of damage from Renew.

    Empower heal(+75)/No devotion:
    (Combat): You heal 54 points of damage from Renew.
    (Combat): You heal 71 points of damage from Renew.
    (Combat): You heal 75 points of damage from Renew.

    Emp heal(75) & Devotion(90) item:
    (Combat): You heal 99 points of damage from Renew.
    (Combat): You heal 178 points of damage from Renew. (Crit)
    (Combat): You heal 84points of damage from Renew.

    Now if I understood spellpower.. It means the numbers are suppose to be a flat Bonus to final damage..However 80(Life magic 4)+ 30(Healing power)+90(Devotion)+75(Empowered healing) = 275. That's also before even adding in the variable dice 12d2(level 24/2) 12-24 so I should be getting a Min/max of 287/299 before the 141% heal amp value.

    So.. My all on range should be 404-422, no crits. Either I massively misunderstand spellpower(A distinct possibility), or renewal is one of those "Special cases".

    That said my base heal on myself with all my "normal" gear on is 579. 579/1.41 = 410.638298 - 275 =135 Which.. erm.. fits.. If I'm screwing up my heal amp numbers, or something(Purity of Essence) isn't stacking.

    150[Base max value]+275[Spellpower] *(1.3[PDK gloves]*1.05[past life]) = 580.125.

    Conclusion: Who's on first, What's Bugged's on second, and I don't know is on third.

    Well It might not be all its cracked up to be.. but there's certainly some stress fractures here somewhere.

    Thanks for testing it, Sgt_Hart.

    It seems that it stacks correctly then with spell power and empower healing (just this feat). The spell power gives a bonus %, not just a flat bonus to damage/healing. So, with your char it should be this way:

    Nothing: Spell power = 80 (Life Magic 4) + 30 (Healing Power 3) = 110

    Min.: 2.1 (Spell power + Base healing) * 12 (Min. dice) * 1.41 (Healing Amp.) = 35.5
    Max.: 2.1 * 24(Max. dice) * 1.41 = 71.

    Devotion : Spell power = 80 + 30 + 90 (Devotion item) = 200.

    Min.: 3 * 12 * 1.41 = 50.76
    Max.: 3 * 24 * 1.41 = 101.52

    Emp. Heal : Spell power = 80 + 30 + 75 (Feat) = 185.

    Min.: 2.85 * 12 * 1.41 = 48.22
    Max.: 2.85 * 24 * 1.41 = 94.44

    Emp. Heal + Devotion : Spell power = 80 + 30 + 90 + 75 = 275

    Min.: 3.75 * 12 * 1.41 = 63.45
    Max.: 3.75 * 24 * 1.41 = 126.9

    As you can see, your non-crit numbers fit into the "min-max" margin. For just 5 sp it's an awesome power (and a must for my bard ).

    Default About heal...

    It seems you only get half the spell power from Life Magic, Healing Power and Devotion Item so with Emp. Feat it is as now 1 + 0.4 + 0.15 + 0.45 + 0.75 = 2.75 . I've already read some people complaining about this.

    With your char, you heal yourself for 579. 579 / 1.405 (H. Amp)= 411.82 / 150 (Base heal) = 2.75~ (Spell power) so it fits.

    Is it WAI? Only a dev knows... :P

    I love Renewal. You can use Empower Healing and Quicken for free on it (still only 5 sp cost), and it can be cast while in antimagic fields.

    It's one of the really great abilities for my melee fvs, and I'll sorely miss it when I cap EA and move on to the next destiny.

    This. It's just so efficient, whether used on yourself or on a group member.

    For some damage you need the inefficient big Heal spell. For everything* else, there's Renewal.


    * - if one target is taking damage, AoE situations Renewal is more limited.

    No arguments that its useful as all hell.. That said, when the math doesn't make sense.. or is just plain inane and weird.

    Your base multiplier is 100%. Add 275% (from the spellpower sources listed), and you get a multiplier of 375%. (12 to 24)*3.75 = (45 to 90) before healing amp.

    That would be interesting if spellpower added a flat number to every damage/healing result. Magic Missile would deal over a thousand damage, since it technically hits five times for minuscule damage each time.
