Default Remove unlock of 32 point builds/drow

I propose that new players not have to unlock or pay for 32 point builds or drow.

This isn't a request for me, I've had them unlocked for ages (and unlock them again every time I TR a toon).

The reason is that it makes DDO more new player friendly.

DDO is really really not new player friendly. Even if the game becomes easier or better designed to get new players started, I have difficulty convincing people that their first character can just be a throwaway character because it will always be suboptimal unless they grind loads or pay real money.

The business model of Free to Play (Or rather Freemium) is that you addict new players, and then they later spend money, right now, the system actively drives new players away in favor of getting a few people to pay money for something that more determined players will get for free anyway.

    No.

28 point builds are fine for beginners. They can play on a "starter" character and do a Greater Resurrection to upgrade to a 32 point build later.

There is no need to "throw away" a character. If you're telling people this then you're doing them a dis-service.

That's only true if they listen to you. If they listened to me they wouldn't pay anything until they were high level and buy a GR Heart.

Really, it can work both ways. But you're not seeing it that way.

Umm no its not that hard to earn and gives people a goal to shoot for plus they learn to play as they do it.

    Default Poor idea

No. If players you know are looking for the easy button at the start they will quit when things get hard another time later, maybe Gianthold or the Vale. Everyone I know and have known over the years appreciated the challenge the game offered.

    Keep builds as is.

So you want new players to start off as a drow right off the bat?

Its almost doing them a service to not allow it. They have a chance to at least pick something semi good like dwarf.
