Default Spell damage gear for low level arcane / divines

I had been using cannith crafted clickies and didn't have to care about it, but with the new spell power implemented AND the cannith crafting shards currently being a huge mess (compared with pre update) it seems I have only around +30 spell power around level 1-5 if using crafted items. Gear allocation is also a big problem.

I guess I'll have to use named gear instead but I don't have many low level items at hand. So far the best I found is boots of corrosion for +48 acid spell power?

What kind of gear would you use when leveling lower (or up to mid-high) level casters after expansion? Any advice appreciated.

uh for arcanes non-epic ornamented daggers but I'm guessing you don't have any
for divines: scepter of healing, staff of fleshshaping
    Ring of Elemental Essence maybe...
    Brimstone Verge
    Eternal Wand of Acid Splash

    I'm sure theres others...

Level-appropriate Thaumaturgy staves, hands down. Only other thing that comes close is the Ring of Elemental Essence.

Especially if you can find one that hits two elements you want and has a lore you want. (The incidental Potency helps with random off-element spells you might cast).
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Agree with Sirgog, the Thaumaturgy staves look like the only thing worth a **** for low levels. Superior potency is rubbish now, and clickies add a puny amount now. Was planning on going fire spec for the low levels on the TR I'm doing, but fireball doesn't do jack damage without spell power. Sup. pot. III and a +10 clicky are not even as good as plain old sup. pot. III used to be. Found a thaumaturgy staff with acid + acid lore, so I'll probably just switch to acid until I come across a fire one. Really wish I hadn't TR'd as a caster right now.

Default Sora Katra Got a Buff (kinda)

The set bonus is +40 Equipment Bonus to Universal Spell Power, Up (kinda) compared to previous 6th level and lower spells gettin' 40% form set bonus.

Still viable for mid-levels... Not perfect but a lil more useful.

Although...it has been reported to not work with divine healing BUT divines and Gnu Spell Power have other issues....

I noticed the Shaman's set bonus from Fens is pretty good for level 7 now, where before I never used it due to better in slot from cannith crafting.

Thaumaturgy is a new staff mod. It gives a variety of fairly high power spellcasting modifiers. There's dozens of different versions, all falling under the "Thaumaturgy" mod label.

As for Arcanes, the best spellpower booster is a risia ice festival Superior Glaciation IX weapon.

Under the new system, I have a Glaciation 90, Major Ice Lore club that is ML: 8. It makes things very, very dead.

When you say staff do you mean that it's exclusive to quarterstaves, or are you just using that as a catch all for caster sticks that could be one-handed?

There's no earthly way they are going to let a modifier as potentially powerful as Thaumaturgy go on a one handed weapon, so that you could use 2, or an alchemical item, or a shield, or a scroll along with it.

    Quarterstaff only.

    And I actually like this.

Wielding a quarterstaff is much more wizardly/sorcerous than wielding twin scepters.

People have been complaining that quarterstaves were mostly useless for caster mods for a long time

Yes, 1H weapons I have only seen them with one spell buff like Combustion. Staves seem the way to go for low levels...finding a staff with multiple random mods that happen to match the spell schools you want to use is problematic though.

Last night I found an ML2 Thaumaturgy staff focussed on healing. +x Light dam, +x Healing dam, Minor Healing Lore.

All up I think the bonuses added up to +60 for Light and Healing, and Healing gets +3% crit.

I think this one will be a keeper !

I almost always use my petitioner but I really want one of these thauma thingies for situational boss fights. glaciation and superior ice lore would be nice.

Take a look in your local auction house, and do a search for "Thaum", with the level filter set to 23-25. At that tier, the two element bonuses are up to 108, the Potency effect is 72, and instead of Lores, you get Masteries.

Necromantic Mastery: Spell Pen IX, Greater Necromancy Focus
Fire Mastery: Efficient Maximize I, Superior Fire Lore
Cold Mastery: Efficient Maximize I, Superior Ice Lore
Healing Mastery: Efficient Empower Healing I, Superior Healing Lore

Those are the ones I've seen so far.
