Furthermore, they acknowledge the error by giving a code for cheap goldseal replacements. Sure, you have to spent TP. But they offered something up front as an apology. That is the definition of a classy apology.

So be appalled. Be satisfied with the results. I have been here since the first servers were turned on, and refuse to call this acceptable behavior by Turbine. Okay so it is only plat, still this was an issue brought up in Beta and not addressed. Do not like people voicing their displeasure, don't read it.

Good luck there... But they did do the kind thing and advise those that want their TP's back to "call them" and sit on hold for however long.... Kind of them ain't it....

Next time they should test the fricken update on an EXACT version of the live servers and previous client.... Oh wait I've been saying THAT for 5 years now... Nevermind...

So if I've just spent the TP before this was announced, just contact account support and they'll refund the money? Sounds simple enough, here's hoping. The 162,764 pp to replace the non-store ones I can live with.

It is okay to say that you want an explanation, or that you don't like the look inside that gift horse's mouth (so to speak) if that is your opinion. But at least acknowledge that Turbine jumped on this and made an attempt. A "Thanks for trying" and a well reasoned request might actually get a better response than insults and whining.

And for the people complain about 50k plat spent... really? REALLY? Are you really complaining about a trivial amount of plat lost? If you didn't all seem to have capped characters, I *might* buy that this was a hardship for you...
LOL, this isn't a gift horse... This is them giving something to comphensate for a situation that could've been avoided as MANY of of the past situations. Test the update RIGHT before you go live...

So the responses are as they should be... tepid

We'll agree to disagree then. But when every guild leader on every server starts screaming - oi, where the frak has our stuff gone - and then start skinning the kobold first-mate because he's the only person still there, and then 7 hrs later we get a response this doesn't qualify as "near immediate".

I know they were working on other stuff, nobody is suggesting they're busy breaking their wrists with self-congratulatory back-slapping on the go-live day. We've all been here before and guess what .... so have they. So they're busy fine, but nobody at Turbine HQ was assigned to watching the forums for doom threads and people crying foul?

This thread was up a long time with a significant issue before someone thankfully stepped in. A 75% discount on additional purchases isn't what I would have expected, especially as it's limited to 10 per account (2 hookpoints for 1 month). Give guild leaders 100% discount on 10 items and leave account support to refund previous purchases would have been seen to be more generous, saving a lot of face and costing them very little.

The discount should be 100%! I should not have to RE-Restock my freshly stocked guild ship using TP that cost REAL MONEY when it was freshly stocked to the tune of ~90KPP(Game money). This is TERRIBLE! Anything less than a 100% discount usuable once per amenity is not enough unless you are going to give guild leaders 100kPP to restock them.

I REALLY can't believe the audacity of a only 75% off TP coupon! Terrible customer service with a new expansion!

Cordo, I dont want coupons. I want the airship restocked with our amenities that we paid for in plat. We're not giving you more REAL WORLD MONEY when you BREAK THE GAME every time you update it. Get real.

I haven't logged on yet, but if this is true I'm going to be really annoyed Just yesterday I spent a ton of plat updating all of our ship shrines to 1 month+. There should have been a WARNING that ship buffs were going to be wiped.

Edit: I just logged on and from Argo I can confirm all of our ship buffs were wiped clean. Grrr...I just spent another 100k plat to redo all of our ship buffs. Way to go developers! That's a great first experience of the new update!

As the only member in my tiny guild that is willing to buy amenities, every month all amenities are bought by me. And yes, it gets pricey -- just a small and large chest is well over 50k plat. Hooray if that is trivial to u -- it is not to me. I was at least glad to hear that if i rebuy the chests, the loot will return because that is clearly worth a great deal more than 50k plat.
Yes, I really did like the old red tent. And its music.

See? This is the kind of well reasoned, mature response that I feel will get the best response. Say you disagree. Give a rational explanation of why you think their response is insufficient. Give suggestions as to how you would like to see them respond.

Whining, insults to Turbine or other forumites, sarcastic jabs, and the like don't look clever or win any points. They just come across as childish and immature.

For anyone who is only out plat, this is really just an annoying, minor inconvenience. The only people who have a real, measurable loss are those who spent TP on their amenities... and those are the people targeted by Turbine's response.

That said, do I think the response is enough? Personally, no. But I am willing to acknowledge that they are trying... and in the scheme of things, making sure the bulk of the expansion is functioning (...well, as well as anything functions on release around here...) is probably keeping the people who actually make decisions and verify bugs (i.e. NOT the community reps) busy.

As for timing, admittedly I was not involved in the Beta, but I have been around since the game went live. And the same day response and offer is about as fast as I've seen them respond to a minor inconvenience like this.

pssst. Look at the response right above yours. 50k is nothing to folks who are plat capped. 50k is a lot to folks who are plat strapped.

And yeah, wasting my time should mean something.

Only the richest players in the guild pay for ship buffs so really this is a win win. Defeat inflation by creating a plat sink and a step towards a level playing field newbie and vet. They even plan to make some money off of it as people take advantage of the "compensatory sale" to upgrade their xp shrine or whatever. (mostly kidding)

    Mine are gone too!!11!

Luckily I had a few copper pieces shoved under the left oarlock of my dinghy to balance the oars.
That should replace the buff I had.

    Seriously though. :/

I spent real money on ship amenities.

I had many weeks left on them and can prove it with e-mail receipts.

I, of course, will want reimbursement for those Turbine Points.

Sort it out however you want: put the buffs back, exact repayment, fair estimation for repayment.

I'm fine with any solution but I do expect this to be addressed.

    Thank you,

Not to be rude, but you could just reread the few posts in this thread. They answered all of the questions you put forth. If you reapply the chest, your items will be in there.

Ah, scrolling back I see I need to contact support to recover TP lost rather then Turbine putting some poor soul on the job of filtering all their transactions for ship amenities and reimbursing people for transactions that would still be active if they were activated on the purchase date (which they could do).

    AKA fixing their own mess.

    <Sigh>

I'm sure this will be quick and convenient.

Sometimes I wonder if people set things up intending that people like me won't bother to jump through the hoops to get back a little lost cash.
    Which I probably won't.
Rather I'll just feel ripped off which is not the feeling you want from your clients.

Nothing classy about items that were purchused with virtual currancy being removed and then Turbine offering to sell them back to us using real money at a 75% discount. That I find to be an insult. I would have rather they just say we screwed up, sorry but you will have to rebuy them and they will return any TPs spent, even better why not discount the virtual cost (plat) of amenities by 75% for a week or so. Nothing classy about turning a bug into a cash grab.
