Default A Way to check Ransack Timer?

Firstly, if I'm posting in the wrong forum section then I apologize. I thought that this would be the most appropriate place to most this.

I wanted to ask if there is currently a way by which we could check our ransack timers for any given chest. I have been unable to find one, which is why I'm asking here if there is such a way. Is there?

In the case that such a function does not exist, I'd like to suggest implementing one. There are multiple occasions during which such a feature would have greatly helped me, and I'm confident that there are many other players that would be beneficiaries of this feature, should Turbine create it. This isn't exactly an urgent suggestion, but I don't see anything bad possibly coming out of it, so I think it'd be nice if Turbine could add this sometime in the future.

Thanks for reading, and feel free to share your thoughts or disagree with anything I stated here.

Personally speaking, I have only ransacked a chest or two once in my year(ish) of playing. On a normal basis I do quests 3 times(Normal/Hard/Elite) then I move on. So its not a big issue for me. However, I can understand how it can be a useful feature(if there isnt already) for people. So, if there isnt one, consider me /signed on there being one in the future.

sure, let's have the timer for ransack show up with the "You have ransacked this chest often" message
would certainly help quite a bit
PS: Greensteel RUINED the game! and you all know it!
    less buffing, more nerfing!!!
to make it easier for those of you that wants to avoid me in game, all my characters are in "Bladesworn Mercenaries"

I think you kind of misunderstood my point.

I know that that message exists. But what I think would help a lot of players is having the ability to check when exactly the ransack timer refreshes. Right now, with the "you have ransacked this chest often" message, we can check if the chest is ransacked or not (obviously) but we are, to my knowledge, unable to pinpoint the exact time the chest timer refreshes. This could be problematic because I might not remember when I first opened the chest, and therefore would not know when the timer refreshes. Having a built-in, easily accessible timer would be convenient as it could save me time if I forget to write down or record when I first opened a chest. Additionally, I can see a player opening a chest, not giving a second thought to ransacks, and then later deciding that s/he wants to farm that chest for a piece of named loot; because s/he didn't write down the exact time at which s/he opened the chest, s/he is now unaware of when the timer will refresh.

My suggestion would merely add a bit of convenience, that's all. Not saying it's a necessary "must-have" feature that will make or break the game, but it'd help. Think of raid and epic timers: sure, we could do without them, but they add a hefty amount of convenience to the game and make it easier to know when we can run x raid or y epic quest for loot/ingredients/shard/seals/scroll/token/whatever.

[edit] Oops. In hindsight, I think I misread your post. I initially thought you were saying it was a bad idea because the current message exists. My bad.

You can use DDOViewer to give you Ransack chests.
(the ones that are possible anyway, the others you have to set manually)

lol, you definitely misread my post, like completely
i was saying it's be helpful if the timer countdown for the sacked chest shows up with the "You have ransacked this chest often" message
kind of like the cooldown timer for shrine?

In addition to the timer appearing when you open the chest, I'd also like to see a command such as "/ransack" which would tell you which quests you're on ransack timer for, in the same way as "/quest" tells you what raids you're on timer on. (I THINK that's kind of what the OP was suggesting, but not sure)

that'd be a really bad idea... as the timer starts basically when you first open the chest, not when you ransack the chest
so essentially it'll be listing every chest you have ran that you opened a chest in

Ah, yeah, I was thinking more of something that only showed you quests you had ransacked already, and how long it would be until you were back at "unransacked" status for that quest... if that makes any sense?

(The only chests I've ever ransacked are Weapons Shipment and the chest with Boots of Propulsion, so I don't have a lot of experience with it...)

Yeah, I did misread it completely. My bad. And I think that your suggestion is certainly viable.

This was indeed what I was suggesting; however, after reading Jay203's suggestion, I like his better. For one thing, my original idea of having that sort of "/ransack" command would overwhelm my chat box because of the amount of chests that get opened on a daily basis, which Jay203 poignantly also stated. All things considered, the solution that you offered would still be better than not having any timer checker in the game at all.

From what I gather and glean, this DDOViewer program has nothing that the DDO client doesn't already have, with the sole exception of the ability to check your ransack timers. While this certainly can be a nice tool, my point was that it would be even nicer if the game had something like this built in and didn't require manual configuration. Additionally, I'm not too keen on the idea of downloading this program that does all these other (useless) things just so I can check my timers. It'd still be more efficient to, instead of downloading that program, I write down when I first open each chest, like I have been doing recently when I want to farm something.

Yup. It should also have a message on the quest entry screen if you're at ransack.
