Default really? (Combat): You suffer 207 points of damage from falling.

I didn't lag, I just hit a mob and bounced to a side

Lucky you, I've read that many are getting more than 1k damage with that bug. Hopefully expac will fix it.

Had a 55 damage fall by, I assume, being near a gate in a Delara quest when it went up yesterday, and a couple other small damage hits I couldn't explain. Had 3 small fall damage hits all at once while standing on some odd terrain the day before. It's been pretty much constant but some times are better than others.

520 (death) is my best so far. I've been killed a few times from falling damage. Why? Turbine's Laws of Physics.

It's not really falling damage, it's crushing damage from an ongoing barrage of invisible incorporeal falling walls of iron. That's why the damage is fairly random and inconsistently frequent.

Ive only been back in the game for 2-3 weeks now and this has happened to me twice. In the 4 plus years I had been playing before I can remember it happening twice.

Just a few days ago in part 4 of the shroud, im doing the choppy choppy thing on the devil and then i do 300 hps to myself twice in the combat log. Died because I was at half hp at the time. Forced into the penalty box and was both ****ed and embarassed. You run the shroud, you die if the wall hits you or in part 5 (it can happen) not part 4.

Then, running the bounty hunter, i took 75 hp falling damage twice in the combat log (didnt die) on the same day as the shroud run but diff character.

It seems its happening fairly often and two consecutive times in the combat log.

Also experiencing weird hick ups at the tops of ladders...............thats been happening on every ladder over the last few weeks.

I climb up, pop back down, then im running on the ground at the top of the ladder. All within about2 secs.

Fighting mobs on the steps of Undermine (headed to the boulder) and took 3 hits of over 800! Yes, I died...

I believe this was explained somewhere as the server thinking you're in the air for an extended period of time when really you may be balancing on a monster, next to a short(or otherwise) drop in terrain, or in some other situation where you are near the air but not actually in fact falling.

If thats the case they need to cap falling damage, something like:

X times number of feet fallen where x equals

    1 on casual
    2 on normal
    4 on hard
    6 on elite

Maximum distance that can be fallen is 100' (taken as force or untyped damage)

After the fall, character gets a Fortitude save vs 1/2 distance fallen or suffer a trip effect for 6 secs and be hamstrung for 1 secs per effective distance fallen.

VON has its own animation death if you fall off the dragons perch and that stays as is, its a very long drop after all.
The next highest fall i think is coal chamber and its very survivable right now. A change like this would make survivable on casual and normal but not so much on hard and normal.

Tumble still reduces effective distance fallen by 1' per skill level, which also reduces the accompanying fortitude save,

    A wiz/rogue with a tumble of 49 & +30 tumble spell falls 100' - 79 =21'
Taking 126 damage and fortitude save of 10 to avoid effects (on elite... 84 hard, 42 normal, 21 casual)

The average character would take 50- 60 pts more.
Pretty deadly but still possible to walk away from.

Its funny how we jump off ledges now and its a fairly trivial deal
But when the server decides we have fallen too far, you die.

Oddly enough, I've never had this happen to me. Not once.

I have, however, been irreversibly stuck inside walls probably half a dozen times now and been unable to /stuck out because apparently I had already used /stuck that day even though I hadn't used it for over a week.

Let's trade problems! I'd gladly rather die randomly than get stuck in walls and have no chance to recover the run, because at least then I'd get a laugh out of how much damage I took...

The instant falling damage dished out by the server does so whether you are wearing a ff item or not. Even if you are a monk with slow fall.

Wow, luckily I haven't had the pleasure of this particular bug. Most I've taken is 75 points in Dreaming Dark, just prior to end fight. Sounds like the list is building

But the weird thing is that falling damage is normally capped around 80-100, so with these 500 pt hits something else is going wrong.

It's a very on bug since the recent physics update to make ladders worse.
