This one was fun, but it bugged. Also used my 12 fighter/7 monk/1 rogue/2 epic (3 GMF) char to "solo" on epic hard (pulled a hire - lvl 20 fvs, after the headache that was stare at my char sheet to avoid helpless intelligence from the last quest wanted some insurance).
Was pretty straightforward, but the end fight bugged. Got the end fight down to what I assume is the point where she enters her tree and she just stood there. Could not interact with her at all.
Again on my level 17 cleric was fairly straightforward run through to the end the traps in the 3 wood monsters room where a little bit of a pain but seemed to get the monsters once u knew about them which was nice and as the previous poster stated the fight went a bit strange after beating the dryad up as the bard stayed there shooting at her but the quest completed ok and i was able to loot.
Ran it quick on my sor mainly cuz i wanted to flag to check if the final thing was a raid or any thing cool..
1 shot every mob on epic normal .. got some moderate xp and junk loot.
About as expected really, short very straightforward, basic quest, nothing much to note.
overall I would say overgrown is a quest.
Bug notes:
- some ppl mention druid breaks if u dont kill her fast.. Kinda 1 shot her so yea was ok for me.
This also happened to me several times, on heroic normal and casual. Somewhere between 10% and 50% of HP left.
On my 4th attempt after this happened (I think she was around 5-10% HP remaining) the tree itself became vulnerable to attack and I destroyed it. It was not a monster enemy on the others.
olganon.org - Remember to play in moderation.
Ran the quest on epic hard.
Sylvie bugged and just stood by her tree. I also assume she would enter the tree and it become attack able. But that never happened.

Ran quest again on epic normal. Again the end boss bugged out...![]()

Another epic normal run...and another bugged end boss.

I ran it on EN with a capped AA ranger and a hire. Easy run, the hire slept through most of it.
Pros:
- First dryad boss.
- Originality points for the atmosphere, the best of the entire chain. It's a simple quest but the tight and short corridors, the low ceilings, having to turn corners every few steps, the small rooms, the light barely coming through the tiny windows, the overgrown vegetation, the lovecraftian monsters give it a very pulp/Twilight Zone episode/The Shadow Over Innsmouth vibe. Props to the people behind the quest.
Cons:
- Not recommended for claustrophobics
- Not enough interaction with the Harper, needs some dialogue options to find out more about the organization.
- Interesting wood woad fight mechanic but too penalizing. If I recall correctly you can kill them one by one when you first meet them and get two chests, or you can kill all three at the end and get no chest. I haven't tried to see what happens if you kill only 1 or 2 and the rest at the end.
Bugs:
- This is one the three quests I couldn't complete on one of my runs, the dryad became passive after getting healed once by the tree.

Heroic normal, lev 20 rogue + the usual hirelings.
There were six trash mobs I could actually backstab here - an improvement on the last quest. I'd mention the traps as well, but I don't think anyone is actually worried about bear traps.
Again, great atmosphere and I do have a soft spot for chasing the mysterious figure who's always one step ahead of you.
Dryad behaved for me - beat her down, she ran to her tree, reappeared, beat her down again and Yay - I get some exposition and a couple of chests.
It was a fun quest, but I'm feeling pretty useless in the series so far.
20/5 DoS Pally/Sentinel ran it solo
Short and sweet quest, decent storyline I had no bugs.
Only thing I would complain about; give me a torch, lantern, candle, lightning bug, SOMETHING at least!? I could not see hardly anything in there. I mean I got the impression of a cool looking place but I was blind like a bat.
This is probably my favorite of the quests so far. I think this one was missing it's soundtrack and ambiance. Some forest wildlife noises would add a lot to feel of the quest. I actually missed seeing the bard the first couple times he was mentioned by the DM, but maybe I was just looking the wrong way.
Getting the woads (is that what they're called?) to trigger was a little annoying. I thought I killed the mobs fast enough, but apparently not. I didn't have any issue with the Dryad at the end, though I heard several other people did. Honestly, she felt rather easy to take down, but I was running this on epic normal.
I was kind of expecting the bard to be a bit more helpful. He's a Harper right? It would be neat to see him do some....Harper things.![]()

Nice atmosphere in this one. Darkened and lined with overgrowth makes for better realism when the mobs start popping up.
Fun quest. Decent number of chests for the length. Looking forward to this Live. The woads optionals are a little unclear but an excellent motivator. Only managed to pick up the 2 chests once in 4 or 5 runs.
Like:
-The atmosphere.
-Encountering an NPC in a quest that helps. He seemed to take care of himself, can he die? Will we get penalized if he dies?
Dislikes:
-I'd like to see a timer with the Woad objectives.
Bugs
-Half my runs through it ended with the Dryad bugging out and quest uncompletable. I haven't run it since this morning's update, maybe that fixed it.
Ran this quest with a Level 25 Human Sorc and Heystack (Hirling) on Epic Hard.
Could not complete the optional "Kill mobs before ..." each instance had at least one mob spawn in a wall.
I hate quest where you walk through and one shot virtually everything and get a challenging end-fight, difficulty in quests need to be balanced, either the mobs need more HP/Resists whatever or the end fight needs some fight taken out of it. I'd prefer the former over the latter by the way. Had I had a melee with me this probably been cake but I had no way to control the agro of the mobs.
Soloed on epic norm with my fvs. I killed woad 1 and 3 but woad 2 "got away" even though i killed everything really quick. The message they had got away appeared alot quicker than it did for 1 or 3....maybe it was hasted? ;o)
Also there is an area which has some barrels in it. It looks like a barrel staircase but you can't use it and it doesnt go anywhere however in finding this out I jumped and landed behind the barrels and then got stuck having to use /stuck to get out. Yeah I know my own stupid fault but just thought you should know!! ;o)
I too got the message for the bard appearing but never saw them until the very last time.
Heroic Normal, boss became unresponsive at about 15% remaining hit points.
Not amused that Turbine doesnt learn to release new Content without closing the known issue Quests that cant be completed. Waiting in the End for a GM on EE, man first quest was a blast and now this.
Turbine get your **** together and ffs close quests you know cant be completed!

Overgrowth is my favorite quest in the new series. This is possibly due to the comical experience I had during my first attempt on EE. A sorc buddy of mine tore right through the first room and proceeded into the hall before I could even zone in properly and start buffing myself. I don't really mind this kind of behavior and I often encourage it, however, in the past I have learned many lessons which now cause me to proceed cautiously down dark halls in an unfamiliar quests. In the exact instance that I told him to slow it down he got snagged by a bear trap and pummeled by Vine Men and Willow Whisps. It was all down hill from there. I recall at least four bear traps that he got caught in and several misfortunes thereafter with wolf and Willow Whisp. After his ninth death we made it to the Wood Woad encounter where we managed to let the Mysterious Bard die and even though we couldn't complete it did little to hide the fact that I was laughing so hard.
So cudos to whoever put those traps there and I pray that they appear in a different spot every time.![]()
Experiences like this are one of the very reasons why I still play DDO.

Playing today on EH. Can't kill the Dryad endboss. Every time she gets to 15% she becomes untargetable, zooms
off to her tree and comes out again at 75%. She seems to be able to do this infinitely.
Anyone else seen this?
