Default DnD Client error 3 years in the works

4 Years ago I "upgraded to a Vista 64 bit machine....and began 1 year after experiencing random DnD client error crahses...They vary in frequency but are not the usual sands of menechtarun/fens/necropolis crashes. In fact I NEVER experience these crashes at all but always random crashes in quests most notably vale quests, abbot to name a few. Some quests I NEVER get these crashes. But I get them in quite a bit of the content. I rule out my video card as it is a replacement done about 8 months ago of the original cards said replacement having no effect on the DnD client errors whatsoever. Within the last week they have started to hit me in public places most notably the harbor. And they got so bad in Let SLeeping Dust Lie in the last 2 days that I went out and bought Windows 7, did a clean install of my OS which wiped everything on my pc. I then freshly installed DDO and went straight to Let Sleeping Dust lie....I crashed 3 times in under 10 minutes. The frequency has gotten to an unplayable state. I guess with all the fixes Ive tried and finally this fresh OS install I have decided I just cant play anymore till I buy myself a new PC. This post is a last ditch effort to have a few eyes on my dxdia to see if you notice anything which might fix this.

Another thing I should mention and just found this out with my new OS is that the files
TurbineInvoker, DnDclient, and even the TurbineLauncher when compatibility tested come up as incompatable files. I have made sure each was set to compatibility mode windows xp sp3 but they still show as incompatible files after I run the test. Ok then

Have you installed the driver for the graphics card from Nvidia or from anther source?

There have been reports of errors with this card that have been solved by using the driver from Nvidia.

I have on numerous occassions and with different video cards, intalled, rolled back, deleted reinstalled drivers on each of my video cards.

It sounds like you pretty effectively eliminated the possibility that it is a software issue. You can try finding newer audio drivers than 2009, but these kinds of issues rarely follow you across new OS's when they are software.

I would begin looking at things like bad RAM and maybe the power supply. Bad RAM can cause seemingly random program crashes, and aging power supplies can dip their power output unexpectedly. Also examine your mainboard for any bulging or damaged capacitors. Hit the system with Memtest, and put in CPU-Z to see if yo can spot any issues like discrepancies between what you know is there and what is reported. Make sure your BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date.

The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Your USB headset driver is 3 years old. I would look for an update to that first.

I actually have tried to update these through the device manager...and come back with that message that "the best drivers are currently in place" or some such

I wondered at the possiblity of the power supply as well....and if it was even large enough for the system in the first place. I have done RAM tests and they always come back passing.

This has become nothing less of a computer demon in need of exorcism...I do believe NOTHING short of a baseball bat to tower and dropping a G on new machine will fix this

From everything you've reported thus far, I'd bet on the power supply being the issue.

It is one of the few things I havent looked into...currently doing some searches on testing a power supply and trying to glean some useful infofrom physically reading the side of it. Will update anything I find in asap.

    Dell XPS 630 630i 750W Power Supply-P/N: DW002

this is what I know so far....unfortunetly I do not have a multi meter or tester, I found I can purchase a new one for $54. The thought of dumping more money into a lost cause though...I may just wait till I can purchase a fresh computer altogether. Still running some searches though

Microsoft.NETFramework 1.1 also comes up as incompatable...between this and these 3 very important files for DDO namely DnDClient also being incompatable, arent these key to what could be causing the client error? Does anyone else with Windows 7 Home premium have these files listed as incompatable?

Is this the error you are getting?

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and was recovered

See http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s...=nvlddmkm&st=0 for the issue and possible solutions.

Rereading your information... if I'm reading it right you have a Nvidia Nforce chipset with drivers from 2009... you mention updating the video card drivers but have you updated your chipset drivers?

When I updated from the device manager it told me I had the current driver however when I went to the Nvidia site it had a driver for my chipset for 2011. Im downloading it now. Also I found some software by mistake called driver tuner...it says I had 28 devices with out of date drivers when I clicked download it of course went to a page that would charge me. It even said it had a driver for my logitech headset...which until then I couldnt even find one. Wondering if this software is useful or just a waste of 30 bucks?

Do you experience the error on any other games or just DDO?

Does the DDO client ever cause the OS to crash or freeze as well?

Random crashes and other odd behavior are usually indicative of a dying power supply, random freezes are usually memory that needs to be re-seated in its socket either from jostling the case or whatnot, but these would be happening in other programs as well, not just DDO. If the error is just in the DDO client, its likely neither of these are the cause.

    More information is required.

I havent really played any other games on this computer besides neverwinternights, IE webpages crash occasionally...stating plainly that IE has stopped working..The OS as vista and now windows 7 do not crash or freeze. Only DDO crashes...the pop up DNDclient has stopped working shows then theirs no more game...Im free to still surf the web full use of computer just the game shuts down and I must reopen it.

Please forgive me if this has already been done, but have you tried running in DX9?

Have you tried running in reduced/low graphics settings?

(For that matter have you tried running in lower game engine settings too, just for the heck of it?)

From time to time people mention some of the extended graphics options as causing problems on some cards - thius is beyond my own scope of knowledge but trying lower settings and lower DX is surely one possible way of confirming if its a graphics related issue of some sort.

Ive had both versions High Res and Low Res installed...(currently running low res game version) In either case I have always adjusted game graphics to low, med, high, all settings) I also turn off environmental stencil shadows and video post effects. Currently The directx under graphics is greyed out (I think this is due to the low res game version) It reads at Directx 9 and the box is not checked however the option is greyed out and I cannot do anything to it such as select a version or put a check in the box.

I know most of the suggestions given me have been tried before but I wanna thank everyone that looked at this thread and offered any suggestion either way...at the very least it gives me a little hope that others are at least lookin at this thread. Its much appreciated After 8 crashes in Ritual Sacrifice coming back to a dead npc and failing ....Im pretty irritated right now so will prolly be breaking from all this for a tad.
